Print More

Watertown residents can leave their yard waste on the curb again beginning the week of April 6. See details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below.

Yard waste collection is starting on Monday, April 6, 2026! Yard waste will be collected weekly on your scheduled trash day during the first three full weeks in April (April 6-25), and periodically throughout the months of May, June, July, and August. Weekly pickup will resume in September. Please refer to the 2026 collection calendar or the A-frame signs around town for more specifics.

Yard waste includes leaves, grass clippings, weeds, twigs, and brush. It does not include dirt or rocks. Waste can be placed in paper bags or in a trash container, and any loose brush must be tied into neat bundles. Please place yard waste out for collection by 7 a.m. on your trash day. See more information about allowed materials.

  1. WAIT, WHAT???
Do my eyes deceive me or is it feast or famine for curbside yard waste collection? In April and May, Area A will have FOUR collection weeks to Area B’s ONE. In June, July, and August, it switches COMPLETELY: Area B will have SIX collection weeks to Area A’s ZERO. Only in September does it return to alternate weeks, lasting through the first two weeks of December. If I read the DPW calendar correctly, Area A will have NO curbside pickup of yard waste between the weeks of May 18th and September 8th (the Tuesday after Labor Day). I love the wilderness, so I’ll be taking my daily walks in Area A. Leave a note for supplies on your untrimmed hedge if you can’t get out. Or use 311 to register your concerns. And be careful with outdoor cookouts! Only you can prevent suburban brushfires.
