New Rep Theatre Announces Productions for 2018-19 – Its 35th Season

Watertown-based New Repertory Theatre announced the lineup for the company’s 35th season. See the announcement below:

Next year, New Repertory Theatre will celebrate 35 seasons of presenting plays that speak powerfully to the vital ideas of our time and continue a tradition of producing theatre that is bold, timely, and essential. We’re excited to share with you a season we’ve entitled AWAKENING, featuring seven illuminating and thought-provoking works. At New Rep, we believe that theatre can be a sanctuary, a place for all to come together as a community in conversation. Time and time again we hear from our audiences that the work that we do is important and that you come to New Rep to see smart, eye-opening plays that spark meaningful dialogue.

Cast Performance of Fiddler on the Roof at the Arsenal Mall

Catch a performance of Fiddler on the Roof up close and personal at the Arsenal Project. The workshop and singalong will be hosted by the Arsenal Project (the former Arsenal Mall) and New Rep Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., the mall announced. Enjoy a cast performance of favorite songs from the New Rep Theatre’s upcoming production, “Fiddler on the Roof” followed by a mini theater workshop & sing-along taught by New Rep education associate, Lily Linke. Meet and greet New Rep Theatre actors, enter to win a pair of tickets to “Fiddler on the Roof”, and enjoy complimentary refreshments!

New Rep’s Latest Play – a World Premier – Gets Rave Reviews

New Repertory Theatre’s latest production, “Blackberry Winter” takes on the difficult subject of a parent facing Alzheimer’s Disease, and the play at the Arsenal Center for the Arts has garnered rave reviews. Adrianne Krstansky stars as Vivienne, who must face the news inside the little white envelope. “With the aid of a creation myth of her own imagination and her insomnia-driven baking, apprehension takes hold as she comes to terms with her mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis,” according to New Rep’s announcement. The play is written by Steve Yokey, and directed by Bridget Kathleen O’Leary. Krstansky has earned much praise for her latest role.

Arsenal Project Hosting a Puppet Workshop and a Blood Drive

The Innovation Space at the Arsenal Project will be busy in the beginning of April with an events hosted by the New Repertory Theatre and the Red Cross. The New Repertory Theatre will host a free, fun-filled event for kids and their families on Saturday, April 2 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Kids will work alongside teaching artists to make their own puppets and learn how to use their puppets to craft imaginative stories. The event is good for children age 3 and above.

New Yorker Cartoonist Roz Chast Will Speak at Arsenal Center for the Arts

This spring, the New Repertory Theatre will host a Spotlight Symposium called “Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? An Evening with Cartoonist Roz Chast. The New Yorker Cartoonist and author will be at the Arsenal Center for the Arts on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Charles Mosesian Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal St. Chast will be speaking about her memoir as it relates to the theme of New Rep’s National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere production of Steve Yockey’s Blackberry Winter, which premiers March 26-April 17, 2016. “New Rep is pleased to host celebrated cartoonist and humorist Roz Chast for this special Spotlight Symposium,” says Artistic Director, Jim Petosa.
