The process of removing, reconfiguring, and pouring new sidewalks in Coolidge Square continues during the week of June 15, 2026. See more details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. Sidewalk Grading & Forming
Sidewalk fine grading will take place at School Street and Hillside Road. Sidewalk forming will take place between Winsor Ave. and Hillside Road.
Crews will be doing sidewalk work in multiple parts of Mt. Auburn Street this week, including in the business district in Coolidge Square. Concrete sidewalk panels will be removed along the eastbound side of Mount Auburn Street between Bigelow Ave.
Crews will be replacing sidewalks on parts of Mt. Auburn Street, along with removing the old bus wires system, and replacing drainage. See more details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. Curb Removal & Reset
Crews will be removing and resetting the westbound curbing on Mount Auburn Street between Winsor Avenue and Hillside Road. Sidewalk Grading & Forming
Once the curb removal is completed they will be grading (measures used for proper drainage) and forming the westbound sidewalk on Mount Auburn Street between School Street and Hillside RoadThe crews will also continue forming and grading the east bound sidewalk on Mount Auburn Street at Norseman Avenue and School Lane.
Sidewalks will be close in East Watertown in areas where the new sidewalks are being replaced this week. The Mt. Auburn Street Project also includes installation of drainage and tree trenches. Sidewalks will be torn out and reset on parts of Mt. Auburn Street and Arlington Street this week as part of the Mt. Auburn Street Project. Construction on Mt. Auburn Street will take place on four days this week.

Excavation of the eastbound sidewalk on the corner of Mount Auburn Street and Arlington Street, and on Arlington Street and Grove Street. This work will start on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Learn about travel and parking impacts below.

Traffic line striping is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026, beginning at 8:00 p.m. and lasting approximately four hours.
The City of Watertown provided the following Mount Auburn Street Update for the week of April 21 – April 24, 2026. No work will be performed on Monday, 4/20/2026, due to the holiday. Milling and Paving
Milling (removal of the top layer of pavement) and paving will occur on Mount Auburn Street between Boylston Street and Chauncy Street and on School Street between Porter Street and Adams Avenue. Detours will be in place for this work. Please see details belowTraffic and Sidewalk Impacts
