Hockey Season Starts Soon – See When Watertown Plays

The Watertown High School boys’ and girls’ hockey teams hit the ice soon. See when you can catch the Raiders. Both teams had runs in the MIAA state tournament last year, and look to return. The teams play their home games at John Ryan Arena, 1 Paramount Place, off of Pleasant Street. The girls share a team with Belmont, and will play some of their games at Belmont High School.

Watertown Field Hockey Racks Up Incredible Numbers

Which is bigger – 6 or 138? Both are impressive when it comes to the Watertown High School field hockey team. Sunday, the Raiders rolled over Auburn 5-0 to win the state championship for the sixth year in a row. The win also extends the team’s unbeaten streak to 138 games. Watertown’s streak is becoming stuff of legends.

Watertown’s football bounced back from their first loss of the season with a decisive win over visiting Saugus on Friday night. 

The Raiders’ lacked a passing attack, but still racked up more than 300 yards of offense. Senior Austin Farry scored three touchdowns and sophomore Zachary Rimsa added two more in the 33-15 win, according to the report on WickedLocal.com. Watertown has been a outstanding tournament team the last two years – reaching the state final in 2012 and the semifinals in 2013.

Watertown Football Team Remains Undefeated

The Raiders football team continued their unbeaten season with a tough game at Burlington on Friday night. Watertown watched a 28-7 third-quarter lead disappear when Burlington scored a touchdown and two-point conversion to go up 29-28 with 2:44 left in the fourth quarter, according to a report in the Lowell Sun. The Raiders drove and Zach Rimsa scored on a 2-yard run with 30 seconds left, the Sun reported. The team added a two-point conversion to win 36-29. Watertown improved to 6-0.

Raiders Remain Undefeated in Football After Win Over Melrose

Watertown put its undefeated season on the line against a team that beat them last last year, but this year they came out victorious. The Raiders held on to beat Melrose 28-26 at Victory Field on Friday night. The team was lead by Nick Giordano and Zack Rimsa, who each scored two touchdowns, according to the Boston Globe report. Watertown continued its success on the football and field hockey turf this week. The Raiders traveled to play Shawsheen in football on Saturday and came away 26-6 victors. The Boston Globe reports that Zach Rimsa scored two touchdowns for Watertown. The Raiders improve to 2-0 and play at Stoneham on Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

The field hockey team has now stretched its unbeaten streak to 121, after beating Winchester 7-0 on the road and Wakefield 6-0 at home.

Watertown Football Ready to Kickoff its Season, More WHS Sports

The Raiders kick off the 2014 football season Friday night at Victory Field. Watertown hosts Medway at 7 p.m. on Sept. 12 in Watertown. The team lost some talented seniors to graduation, but Coach John Cacace told the Watertown Tab that this year’s team will try their hardest to get a sixth straight winning season.
