Watertown runner Austin Lin continues to turn in amazing times during the indoor track season. 

After running the seventh fastest 400 meters in the nation earlier this year, he ran the 600 in a school record time at the MSTCA Elite Meet/Coaches Invitational on Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston.

The time of 1:23.02 placed Lin fourth in the event which features many of the best high school track and field athletes in Massachusetts. The WHS junior broke a mark that stood for 40 years, according to a report on the Wicked Local Watertown.

Girls Basketball Stays Undefeated

The Raiders put their unbeaten record on the line against another undefeated team Friday night, and Watertown came out on top.

Woburn led the Liberty Division of the Middlesex League – the big school division – but fell to the top team in the small school division – the Freedom Division. Watertown won 56-42, with junior point guard Michaela Antonellis leading the Raiders by scoring 15 points.

Watertown is 12-0, including a 55-17 rout of Reading on Jan. 20.

WHS Sports Notes
  • The girls’ hockey team bounce back after a 4-2 loss to Reading and beat Woburn 6-3 on Saturday to improve to 9-3-1.
  • The WHS boys’ basketball team fell at home to Woburn 62-54 on Friday, but they have a 8-5 record with the help of wins on Jan. 20 at Reading, 57-48, and at home over Boston Latin, 82-59, on Jan. 18.
  • The boys’ hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie against rival Belmont on Jan 19, improving the season record to 5-2-3.
