Police Log: Man Hits Car in Front of Officer, Purse Stolen from Birthday Party

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

Feb. 17, 2:07 p.m.: A man grabbed a bottle of alcohol put it in his pants and ran out of Arsenal Wine & Spirits without paying. The man was recognized and police knew he frequently could be found on Irving Street. They found the man, who had a bottle of whiskey worth $40. He also had a warrant for his his arrest. The 32-year-old Newton man was arrested for shoplifting and a warrant from Waltham District Court for unlicensed driving.

Feb. 19, 9:54 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Main Street ran the registration of a vehicle and found the registration had been revoked for lack of insurance. The driver was pulled over and identified. Police also found he had warrants in his name. The 27-year-old Allston man was arrested on charges of driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, a Warrant from Woburn District Court for traffic offenses and a warrant from Dedham District Court for larceny.

Feb. 20, 5:58 p.m.: Police were called to GymIt for a disturbance, and officers found one of the men involved had an outstanding warrant. The 38-year-old Boston man was arrested on the warrant.

Feb. 22, 1:21 a.m.: An officer was flagged down by an officer who said there was a man sleeping inside Domino’s and they could not get him to leave. Police placed the man into protective custody and they found he had an outstanding warrant from Dorchester District Court. The 44-year-old Watertown man was place under arrest.

Feb. 22, 6:18 p.m.: Police stopped a driver who tried to drive down Chapman Street while it was closed for construction. The car tried to squeeze past a pickup truck and hit it. The officer who was on detail for the construction came over and detected an odor of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were given and the 33-year-old Watertown man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Incidents

Feb. 18, 7:35 p.m.: A Quimby Street resident discovered someone broke off the latch to her storage unit and her belongings were rummaged through. Nothing was reported missing.

Feb 21, 4:06 p.m.: A woman was with her child for a birthday party at the Indoor Playground on Parker Street and she realized someone had taken her black Coach wallet. It contained cash, credit cards and other items.

Feb. 22, 5:53 p.m.: A cell phone was stolen from Target after a customer put it down by the register and forgot it there. When the customer went back it was gone. Store security looked at video and saw a woman pick up the phone, place it in her purse and walk out.
