Watertown’s Roberta Miller was named the new executive director of the Arsenal Center for the Arts.

The Arsenal Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the permanent appointment of Watertown native Roberta Miller to its Executive Director Position.

Miller has overseen the center on an interim basis since September and previously served as a founding board member/co-chair of the $6 million capital campaign that established the Arsenal Center for the Arts.

“The search attracted dozens of strong candidates from throughout the Northeast. In our process of interviewing and screening, Roberta rose to the top of the field with her practical, inclusive, innovative, and entrepreneurial leadership style,” said Susan Centofanti, Arsenal Center Board President. “Her prior work has been in supporting organizational and cultural change in organizations and municipalities.

“This expertise, combined with her deep knowledge of our organization and our community, her experience developing large scale collaborative initiatives, and her energetic pursuit of innovative strategies for growth, makes her the ideal director to shepherd the Arsenal Center to assume a leadership role within the regional arts community.”

Miller was honored with the center’s 2015 Charles Mosesian Award for her longstanding commitment to Watertown and the Arsenal Center for the Arts – having served on the Town Council, Redevelopment Authority and as former board President of the Watertown Community Foundation. Before rejoining the Arsenal Center, Miller’s work focused on fostering local initiatives and innovation strategies at The Arsenal Project.

“I am so happy to join the talented and amazing team at the Arsenal Center for the Arts to help make art experiences accessible to everyone. We have such remarkable events going on in Visual Arts, with Watertown Children’s Theatre; and with our program partner New Rep Theatre. It is an honor to be part of such a wonderful organization” said Miller.
