Members of the Wavemakers, the Watertown Boys & Girls Club swim, get ready to head to the airport to flying to Florida for Nationals!

Members of the Watertown Boys & Girls Club’s swim team, the Wavemakers, competed in the National Boys & Girls Club Championships in St. Petersburg, Fla., and were part of the team that placed third overall, according to the Club.

Earlier this month. Watertown Boys & Girls Club attended the 3-day competition as a member of Team New England, the team that came in third place in the national competition!

Nineteen swimmers from the Wavemakers attended and many moved on to finals where several swimmers had their personal-best times.

All year, these hard-working swimmers, supported by their coaches, Colleen Devereaux, Bonnie Fink, and Stephanie Barker, have prepared for Nationals, going so far as to spend hours and hours out of the pool fundraising to send themselves there. The Club’s staff and leadership are so proud of the Wavemakers’ dedication – congratulations on an outstanding season!
