This past weekend, the Wavemakers, the swim team of Watertown Boys & Girls Club, traveled down to St. Petersburg, Florida to compete in the National Boys & Girls Clubs Swim Meet, the club announced. There, they swam as part of Team New England and were up against other regional Boys & Girls Club teams from across the country.

Their hard work paid off when Team New England placed second overall out of a total of 16 teams. The Wavemakers have prepared tirelessly for Nationals, adding extra practices, increasing dryland work-outs, and motivating one another to go the extra step. The team also had ten members make it to Finals, a record-high number for the Wavemakers!

This year’s Nationals will be the last for senior swimmer and Club member, Sajda Abbas, as well as long-time swim team coach, Bonnie Flink. Flink has served as head coach for over 5 years, and has been a part of the Boys & Girls Club team for more than 15.

Assistant Coach, Stephanie Barker, will take over as Head Coach of the Watertown Wavemakers next year.

Congratulations to the Watertown Wavemakers!
