Learn How to Make Television Shows Through Free Watertown Cable Classes

Residents of Watertown are invited to sign up for Watertown Cable Access Television’s free summer workshops beginning on August 1, WCA-TV announced.

Below you will find a list of the workshops and their descriptions. In order to participate, you must sign up to become a member of WCA-TV at https://myisaac.com/membersignup?loc_id=5863f8ad1e280. Once you have signed up and been approved by a staff member, login to myisaac.com to register for a workshop.

Multi-Camera Studio Production

4 Tuesdays Aug. 1 11am-12:30pm

Learn how to operate a video switcher, audio board, teleprompter and studio cameras in order to create your own show. Take with friends, family or other community members! Classes must have at least 4 individuals per session to fill all positions.

Pre-Production Workshop

2 Tuesdays Aug. 1 1pm-2:30pm

Learn all of the steps that need to be taken before beginning production on everything from television shows to short films. These steps include planning the show, script writing, identifying equipment and location needs, and plotting out a training schedule.

Field Camera Production

4 Wednesdays Aug. 2 1pm-2:30pm

Learn all of the functions of WCA-TV’s field cameras. You will become proficient at filming shot composition, video capture, audio capture, as well as staging interview set ups. The workshop will also include a beginner’s look at editing in Adobe Premiere CC.

News Production

4 Wednesdays Aug. 2 3pm-4:30pm

Do you want to report on what’s happening in your community? In this class, you will learn how to produce your own news stories from start to finish. We’ll teach you how to use our cameras, edit, conduct a good interview, and a lot more. Your stories could make it onto WCA-TV’s news program, Watertown Weekly News.

Intro to After Effects

2 Fridays Aug. 4 11am-12:30pm

Learn about the possibilities available when animating with After Effects, as well as the program’s general layout and very basic functions. By the end of the lesson, you’ll know your way around the program’s interface, understand the fundamentals of making things move with After Effects, and be able to use very basic key framing. Footage will be provided for editing.

Digital Video Editing

3 Mondays Aug. 7 1pm-2:30pm

Instruction on the basic aspects of editing software Adobe Premiere CC: interface and functions, importing & exporting, basic editing, titling, audio, and tools. Footage will be provided for editing.

Audio Technician Workshop

2 Tuesdays Aug. 15 1pm-2:30pm

Get hands-on training on all of WCA-TV’s audio equipment, including audio mixers, microphones, headsets, and more. Students will also learn best practices for good sound capture and how to troubleshoot any audio issues that may come up.

Intro to Graphic Design

2 Fridays Aug. 18 11am-12:30pm

Instruction on the basic aspects of Adobe Photoshop. Along with learning about the interface itself, students will work with different tools, layers, and filters to create unique graphic designs that can be used in all types of projects.
