A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday August 3rd, 2018 in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main Street, Watertown at 9:00 a.m. for Joseph F. Shutt.

Born in Boston, Joseph was the son of the late Charles J. Shutt & Barbara A. (McDonough) Shutt. He passed away Monday July 30, 2018 in Burlington after a short period of declining health. Joseph was 93. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann M. (Norton) Shutt who passed away three years ago in July of 2015.

Joe worked diligently as a salesman for Nynex Yellow Pages. He was a graduate of Watertown High School, a proud member of the Pvt. Charles J. Shutt Marine Corp League Detachment, the V.F.W., the Knights of Columbus, and the Ancient Order of
Hibernians Div. 14. Joseph also had a passion for art, specializing in oil paintings.
During World War II, Joseph served our nation as a Private First Class in the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1943 to 1947 where he was stationed in the South Pacific.

He was the beloved husband of the late Ann M. (Norton) Shutt. Devoted father of Mary McHugh & her husband Richie of Woburn, Barbara Shutt Quinn & her husband Rear Admiral USN (Ret.) Kevin of VA, Heather Shutt Haase & her husband Dr. Volker of Tennessee, Charles J. Shutt & his late wife Kathleen M. O’Connor of Gloucester, Joseph M. Shutt & his wife Kristen of Reading and the late Brian S. Shutt. Dear brother of Patty DeBesse of Texas, the late William T. Shutt, Private Charles J. Shutt USMC KIA Okinawa, Robert Shutt, & Barbara McDonnell. Loving grandfather of Anna-Sofia & Siobhan Haase, Ashley & Joey Shutt and the late Matthew J. McHugh.

Funeral from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 at 8 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m.

Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday
Aug. 6 at 10:30 a.m.
