William J. Fleming of Winchester died on August 4, 2018 after a year long struggle with ALS.

Beloved husband of Nancy (Farnsworth) Fleming. Loving father to John A. Fleming, William F. Fleming and his wife, Lauren, and grandfather to Libby Marie. Survived by three brothers – John J. and his wife Sheila (Sullivan) of Northampton, MA; Richard J. Fleming of Sandwich, MA and Robert P. Fleming of Arlington, MA. Bill is also survived by six nieces, two nephews, many close friends, including his best lifelong friend, Alfred Zani.

William grew up in Watertown, MA and graduated from Watertown High School in 1968. He went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) with a BA in Environmental Design. He continued his education at the Boston Architectural Center receiving a degree in Architecture. After working for various architectural firms, William started his own firm, William Fleming Associates, in 1988. He was joined by his son, William F. in 2004. He continued his career in landscape architecture and architecture until his retirement in 2017, working on residential and commercial projects.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 158 Washington Street in Winchester on Thursday, August 16 at 11 am. Interment will be private.
