Lt. Paul Sullivan of Watertown, killed in Vietnam in 1968, will be remembered during the 50th Annual Scholarship Awards in June.

Each year, the Lt. Paul Sullivan Scholarship and other awards go out in memory of a Watertown native who was killed serving in Vietnam in 1968.

The following information was provided by the Lt. Paul Sullivan Scholarship Committee:

The Lt. Paul Sullivan Scholarship is now on line:

The application deadline is April 16, 2021. The top scholarship is $5,000. Additional scholarships will be awarded.

Last year there were 9 scholarships totaling $25,000 We are looking for student -athletes who are actively involved in their school, religion, and community.

All Watertown students, from any area high school, who meet the requirements, are eligible.

Students from Newton, Waltham, Belmont and Cambridge who live within the areas of Sacred Heart, Newton, Sacred Heart, Watertown, St. Mary, Waltham, St. Patrick, Watertown are also eligible. Given changes over the years, students from collaboratives that include these parishes are eligible.

    • Wasn’t St. Jude’s an elementary school? I assume if someone went there and is still attending high school in the area they could apply.     • All Watertown students are eligible so that those that live in St. Jude’s Parish are eligible. The original scholarship was tied to St. Mary’s High School. When the high school closed it included those in St. Mary’s Parish. In recent times, with the formation of collaboratives, those boundaries have expanded. We have had applications from students from St. Jude’s Parish.
