The following information was provided by Nonantum Children’s Christmas Party Association:

After our successful Rolling Memorial in 2020, the Nonantum Children’s Christmas Party
Association, Inc. plans to hold the same event this Memorial Day, Monday, May 31st, beginning
at 1 p.m.

The Rolling Memorial is the safest alternative to a traditional parade that still allows the community to honor and remember the sacrifices made by so many who served our country.

Join us along the route and watch approximately twenty patriotic floats roll by! The Memorial will travel through parts of Newton, Waltham and Watertown. Visit our website nonantumccpa.org for additional information including the entire route with approximate times. If you have any questions, please email us at info@nonantumccpa.org.

  1. The link describes the route, but it’s so convoluted the organizers (not you Charlie) should have prepared an actual map.

  2. Last year I participated in the first “Rolling Memorial “. It was the most meaningful event I ever experienced.

I first want to respectfully make a correction to the writer -It is not a celebration !
It is a tribute to honor our fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for our country .

Because a Newton Memorial Day parade was not allowed due to the pandemic – the Nonantum children Christmas party association established this moving memorial last year.

As a member of the Nonantum American Legion Post 440 Ladies Auxiliary, I was proud to join last year and will participate again this year.

There are floats -some showing names and images of heroes we lost -Music- Disney look-alikes -flags -decorated trucks, cars and more.

It was emotional to see people running out of their homes – standing and saluting our flag .
It meant so much to them !

People said it was better then a parade to see this rolling memorial come on their street -right to their house .

We went to over 40 Newton streets – through Waltham – down Main Street Watertown through Watertown Square – salute at the Shutt Marine Detachment and back to Newton -over 4 hours !!

Thank you to members of the Nonantum Children Christmas Party Association for establishing this wonderful tradition.

It brings to People – the spirit of Patriotism and respect for all our heroes who gave their lives – that we in this Country should never forget .

God bless the Nonantum Children’s Christmas Party Association for this event and for all the charitable things they do year round .
    God bless America.
