The following announcement was provided by the Public Arts & Culture Committee:
Take home a piece of Edible Watertown: Plants of our Past! The Public Arts & Culture Committee (PACC) invites you to a silent auction of work by local artists created for Edible Watertown: Plants of our Past. Support local artists and the PACC with an evening of bidding, conversation, and community.
Join us for a silent auction of the Plants of Our Past artwork on Saturday, January 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Watertown Free Public Library. This in-person silent auction is free, but capacity is limited and tickets are required.
Plants of Our Past is part of the Edible Watertown project by the Public Arts & Culture Committee which aims to uplift the importance of native flora and their ecosystems to connect people with the environment right outside their door. The community connections created by this local movement, in response to the global issue of climate change, will encourage us all to be better stewards of the environment and increase recognition of the known natural gifts in our community. The Edible Watertown: Plants of Our Past artwork has been on display throughout Watertown. You can learn more about the project and preview the artwork available for bidding on the City website.
(See a panel discussion featuring the artists below)
In addition to the silent auction, the evening will feature live music, light refreshments, and artmaking.
Can’t be there to bid on your favorite artwork? We encourage you to send someone to bid for you! Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Edible Watertown project and local artists: Cat Bennett, Debajyoti Biswas, Donna Calleja, Marija Draskic Brancazio, Connie Henry, Jaclyn Kain, Niloufar Keyhani, Carol Leonesio, Kate Martens, and Patty Murphy.
