Steam-Powered Car Show Coming to Gore Place

Steam-powered cars will be on display at Gore Place on Aug. 4.

The following announcement came from Motorheads:

Steam powered automobile companies the alternative to gas powered were popular in New England in the early 1900s. Names like Waltham, Stanley, Grout, Doble, Locomobile, Skene, Whitney just to name a few.

Note: At least 5 car companies started in Waltham, Ma. At least 3 manufactured steam cars.

Note: The Stanley Motor Carriage Company was located just two miles from our car show location Gore Place.

The Motorheads 6th Annual Charity Car Show at Gore Place is one of New England’s premier shows of the season for all types of Antique & Classic Vehicles.

Steam cars collectors & members of SACA Northeast the Steam Automobile Club of America will participate.

Prewar World War ll vehicles of all types will be on display some manufactured in Waltham like Metz and Orient.

Participating organizations: Members of SACA Northeast, Waltham Museum, Waltham Historical Society, Waltham Museum of Industry, Metz / Waltham Group.

$30.00 Per Show Vehicle Driver and passengers free.
Spectators $5.00. Children, elderly and handicapped free.
*Period Dress is encouraged.

Trailer parking onsite.

This event is being held at Gore Place the former home of Charles H. Metz & offices of the Metz Automobile Co. between 1911 – 1921.

Awards, Vendors, Food, Raffles, Trophies, entertainment.

Gore Place is a 50 acre country estate in the city of Waltham, Ma. A grand Federal Style mansion steeped in history, a farm and an invaluable community resource.
