Actors’ Shakespeare Project will offer a February Break theater program for youth, as well as stage combat classes for adults at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown. See details in the announcement from ASP, below.

Breakspeare

ASP’s most popular youth program is back — with double the offerings and double the fun! Join us for Breakspeare – school break theatre camps for 8-12 year olds led by professional actors and teaching artists from Actors’ Shakespeare Project.

All Breakspeare weeks include acting, costumes, art, prop creation, music, and more! Perfect for kids who are born scene-stealers, or just curious about getting on-stage for the first time.

One session will be offered in Watertown in February, along with two camps in Somerville — in February and April — and in Roxbury in April. All camps culminate with a sharing on Friday for families and loved ones to attend.

Inspired by ASP’s professional production of Little Women (also taking place at The Mosesian!), our young actors will explore scenes and monologues from literature’s fiercest females (Shakespeare and beyond!). All genders welcome as we celebrate the power and presence of women on stage.

Stage Combat Classes

You’ve seen them onstage as Macbeth and Banquo this October. Now – learn their technique. ASP is excited to bring back one of our most popular classes: Intro to Stage Combat!

Join ASP Resident Artists Omar Robinson (MacbethHamletThe Piano Lesson) and Jesse Hinson (MacbethRomeo and JulietThe Tempest) for a crash course in the fundamentals of falls, fights, and fracases.

Whether you’re a total novice looking to start your stage combat journey, or an old pro looking for a refresher on the basics — Omar and Jesse will give you the toolbox to confidently and safely approach stage combat in your future.

All three workshops will take place at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown. Please come dressed to move and bring a water bottle! Sunday, Nov. 23 — 1-4pm
Session 1: The Building Blocks of Fight Choreography

Sunday, Dec. 7 — 1-4pm
Session 2: Intermediate Unarmed Stage Combat

Sunday, Dec. 14 — 1-4pm
Session 3: Weapon Work 101
Each workshop costs $180, or $360 total when you order all three as a package.

You do not need to take all three classes, but if you wish to take the third workshop by itself, we ask that you already have basic proficiency in unarmed stage combat.

Space is limited to ensure that each student receives proper individualized attention and direction.

Scholarships are available for students with financial need. Reach out to Lindsay@ActorsShakespeareProject.org for more info.
