The City of Watertown will not declare a snow emergency for the storm that began Sunday, Jan. 18, but on-street parking is prohibited overnight. See details in the announcement from the City, below.

In preparation of the incoming winter storm, the City of Watertown would like to share a few key updates to the community. The City of Watertown will not be declaring a snow emergency due the incoming snow fall happening on January 18, 2026. However, the overnight winter parking ban remains in effect and will be strictly enforced. No car may park on street for longer than 1 hour between 1am and 6am. Keeping our streets clear will help our DPW team remove snow and ice effectively during this storm. Visit watertown-ma.gov/winter to find free off-street parking options made available city-wide.

Secondly, we’d like to remind you that properties are required to clear snow and ice from their sidewalks within 24 hours of the snowfall ending. Doing so keeps Watertown safe and accessible, while also avoiding enforcement for violating the local snow and ice removal ordinance. Help keep Watertown safe and accessible this winter season and learn more at watertown-ma.gov/shovel.

Finally, this is a reminder that trash and recycling is running on a holiday schedule this week, with Monday pickup scheduled to happen on Tuesday, January 20. Please keep your bins off of the curb until your dedicated trash pickup day to allow our plows to clear snow without obstruction.

Thank you for your help in keeping Watertown clear of snow and ice; and please visit watertown-ma.gov/snow to stay up to date with winter weather updates in Watertown.
