Oct. 28, 2:06 a.m.: A man went to Perfection Auto Body, got into a tow truck and drove away down Pleasant Street. Employees called Police, who stopped the flatbed truck on Pleasant and Bridge streets. They opened the door and asked the man to put the truck in park.
For the past few years, Watertown officials have sought to start a shuttle service to serve Pleasant Street, which has no MTBA bus service. The Watertown Transportation Management Association (TMA) has applied for a grant from the State to start a shuttle. The grant would be from the Mass. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Workforce Transportation Program, said Watertown’s Transportation Planner Laura Wiener. The Town Council sent a letter in support of the TMA’s grant application.

The winning candidates in Watertown’s race for Town Councilor At-Large topped the voting in each precinct, but they split who won each of the town’s 12 precincts. Watertown’s Rodrigo Freitas celebrates after scoring the winning goal in double overtime over Dracut in the North Section quarterfinal. Watertown High School’s boys soccer team fended off waves of attack from Dracut in the Div. 3 North quarterfinal, but in crunch time Rodrigo Freitas struck and won the game for the Raiders in sudden death overtime. The third seeded Watertown (14-4-2) defeated sixth seed Dracut (12-9) by a score of 2-1 in double overtime Wednesday night at Victory Field in the state tournament game. The win was the second straight in overtime for the Raiders.
Employees celebrate the opening of The Gap Factory store at Arsenal Yards. The Gap Factory store officially opened for business in Watertown on Wednesday morning. It is the first new store to open, or in this case, re-open, at Arsenal Yards. The Gap Factory had been one of the tenants of the old Arsenal Mall. The store joins Marshalls, which remained open during construction, as places available for shoppers to visit in the redevelopment of the old mall.
The team from Watertown High School that competed for a spot on WGBH’s High School Quiz Show. A group of Watertown High School students recently competed at WGBH’s studio to be part of the High School Quiz Show. WGBH provide the following information:
On Sunday, Oct. 20, Watertown High School visited WGBH’s Brighton studios to participate in Super Sunday, the qualification round of WGBH’s High School Quiz Show. High School Quiz Show is a televised quiz competition between Massachusetts high school students entering its 11th season of broadcast on WGBH. On Super Sunday, student teams come to the studio to take a 45-minute quiz with hopes of placing on to the broadcast.
