Drivers Beware of New Traffic Patterns at Intersection on Common St.

State Sen. Will Brownsberger warns drivers to be aware of changes to in the traffic lights at an intersection near the Watertown-Belmont line due to work on Trapelo Road. Brownsberger recently published this post on his website:

Change is hard and important change has happened at the intersection of Common Street and Trapelo Road. It used to be that traffic with a green light on Common Street could turn left.  Only one direction of Common Street had the green at a time. Now there are separate signals for left and straight. Both directions of Common Street go green for left turn at the same time now.

A new business specializing in skin treatments opened in Watertown, near the Newton Corner. Skin MD recently held its grand opening. The location at 100 Galen Street, Ste. 302, is one of four locations in Massachusetts. “Skin MD was founded with the principles to safely achieve your goals for advancement in looking, feeling and being your best while protecting your individuality, preserving your identity and achieving your personal aesthetic goals,” Skin MD said in an the grand opening announcement.

Watertown’s Elementary Schools Hosting 5K Crazy Color Fun Run

Come out and join students from Watertown’s elementary schools in the 5K Crazy Color Fun Run. 

This 5K has the additional element of adding a different color to your outfit at each kilometer with a crazy color party at the end of the race. The race is hosted by the Hosmer, Lowell and Cunniff PTOs. The color itself is non-toxic corn starch. Participants can walk or run; do the course at whatever speed is your fancy. The race kicks off at 10 a.m.

This race is open to everyone, and kids especially are encouraged to register!

WHS Sports: Watertown Football Heads Out of State, Field Hockey Keeps Winning

Watertown High School hit the road in a big way for the second football game of the season, and had a successful trip to Rhode Island. The Raiders defeated host Mt. Pleasant 31-0 on Saturday, with running back Zach Rimsa scoring two first quarter touchdowns, according to the Boston Globe boxscore. Watertown scores all its points in the first half, with Robert Kennedy and Luis Moradel each running for second quarter touchdowns. Kicker Santino Fieremonte hit a 33-yard field goal in the first quarter and made all four extra points.

Watertown Youth Baseball, Softball Teams Get in Some Fall Ball

The fields were buzzing with excitement as Fall Baseball and Softball got underway. The action included Watertown’s Fall Travel Majors Team taking on Lexington in Lexington where the Watertown boys netted the first game win of the season. In Softball three Raiders teams engaged in double-headers. The 10U LadyReds took on Natick in Natick. This year’s 10U team is a perfect mix of Belmont and Watertown players.
