Small Saves: A Sign of the Season

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning, Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Watertown Fire Department Teams with Domino’s During Fire Prevention Week

The following announcement was provided by Domino’s:

Watertown Domino’s, located at 111 Arsenal St., and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are teaming up with Watertown Fire Department to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12). On Oct. 9 from 5-7 p.m.

Anyone who orders a Domino’s pizza may be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives aboard a fire engine. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, the pizza is free.

Harry Potter Escape Room Returns to the Watertown Library

This year, the library is bringing Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets to life with spooky set pieces, and plenty of riddles for Potter fanatics to work out as a team. So what is an escape room exactly? Also known as puzzle rooms, escape rooms are interactive games for a team of players confined to a particular space.

We will be learning about the music of Tony Bennet and Peggy Lee, hostng a Flu Clinic, creating a unique Fall centerpiece with Ernie, offering free dental screenings with the Regis College Dental Program, celebrating the season at the annual Harvest Party, and learning about Senior Living op ons. As we welcome a new Fall season, we also welcome two new members to the Council on Aging Board, Tom Lewis and Araxie Poladian.

Find Out Which Candidate Won the Watertown Dems Presidential Straw Poll

The following information announcement was provided by the Watertown Town Democratic Committee:

 Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren was the choice of Faire-goers for the Democratic nomination for President in the Watertown Democratic Town Committee’s annual straw poll at Saturday’s Faire on the Square.  The home-state senator won 49 percent of the nearly 150 votes cast, while former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden came in a distant second with 19 percent. The poll was held at the Democratic Town Committee’s table at Watertown’s annual Faire on the Square, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019. Participants were asked to choose between the declared candidates in the 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary. Coming in third place with 9 percent of the vote was South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, followed closely by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders with 8 percent.
