Public Invited to the Watertown Veterans Day Breakfast

The Veterans Services Office provided the following information:

On Sunday Nov. 11, 2018, The Private Charles J. Shutt Detachment Marine Corps League located at 215 Mt. Auburn St. Watertown, MA 02472 will be hosting a Veterans Day breakfast followed by a Ceremonial Observance. The Breakfast will begin at 10 a.m. and the Ceremony will begin at 11:00am.

Crafts, Entertainment & Treats at the Annual Homelearners’ Fall Fair

The following information was provided by Advocates for Home Education in Massachusetts:
The AHEM Homelearners’ Fall Fair, featuring handmade crafts, entertainment, and delicious baked goods, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, for three action-packed hours: 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at First Parish of Watertown, 35 Church St., Watertown, MA. This lively fair provides a great opportunity to buy inexpensive, homemade gifts for the holidays, sample tasty baked goods, be entertained by a variety of talents, and enjoy networking and conversation with other homeschoolers — also a great way to introduce people to the homeschooling concept.

Learn Self Defense at the Watertown Free Public Library

The following information was provided by the Watertown Free Public Library:
The Watertown Library will host a free self-defense class on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the Watertown Savings Bank Room. The class is and open to the public. Registration required. We’ll cover some basic self-defense skills, how to lower your victim profile and increase your situational awareness.

World Music and Dance Group Performing to Benefit Watertown’s Sister City Program

An internationally renowned world music and dance ensemble will perform in Watertown as part of the Tremedal Coffeehouse series. The group — Libana — illuminates the creativity, vision and spirit of women worldwide, according to organizers. Their performances have been described as “riveting, transformational and soul stirring, Libana takes audiences on a musical journey reflecting the universal human experience uniting us all.” Libana will peform on Oct. 20, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the First Parish Unitarian Church of Watertown, 35 Church St., Watertown.

Latest Designs for Mt. Auburn St. Project to be Discussed at Upcoming Meetings

The following announcement came from the Department of Public Works:
The Town Council Public Works Committee has scheduled two meetings for a Mount Auburn Street project update. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 and Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018. Ask questions and review plans with the project team starting at 6:00 p.m. Each Committee meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall, Administration Building Richard E. Mastrangelo Council Chamber, 149 Main Street, Watertown.

Improbable Players Presenting Play on Opioid Addiction at Mosesian Center

Watertown-based Improbable Players will be presenting a show at the Mosesian Center for the Arts showing how people got started using opioids. The Improbable Players provided the following information:
