I want to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate every single person, no matter the party and no matter who you voted for, who took the time to do their civic duty on Tuesday September 4. Our republic only works, indeed can only thrive, if informed citizens participate. I’m truly humbled and honored that 64% of those who voted in the Republican Primary selected me to be the Republican Nominee. I want to congratulate Dr. Louis Kuchner, my primary opponent, for running a spirited campaign that took the high road and focused on issues. He has graciously endorsed my candidacy and pledged his support.

American Lung Association®. This program provides an overview on how
to overcome tobacco addiction by addressing the physical, mental and

Watertown Youth Lacrosse Invites Kids of All Ages to Play Speedball

Watertown Youth Lacrosse invites you to play Fall Speedball Lacrosse. Speedball is a non- contact game played with a soft ball. This Is a great introduction to the game for inexperienced players looking to try it out. All players are welcome, and please bring any friends that want to try lacrosse. For experienced players, it’s an excellent way to improve stick skills and off ball movement.

On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at 7 p.m. at the Watertown Free Public Library, in the Watertown Savings Bank room, author Elizabeth Levy Merrick will present a slide show lecture, “Exploring Greater Boston’s Historic House Museums: Bringing the Past into the Future.”

Presented by the Historical Society of Watertown, the meeting is free and open to the public. The author will have available copies of her book, “Be There Then: Exploring Greater Boston’s Historic House Museums.”

Bank Provides Grant for Boy’s & Girls Club’s Girls Science, Technology Program

The Watertown Boys & Girls Club provided the following information:

Watertown Boys & Girls Club a youth development organization providing after-school and summer programming, today announced it has received a $10,000 Targeted Grant from Eastern Bank, America’s oldest and largest mutual bank. The grant will support the implementation of “GIRLS ROCK”, an after-school STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) program specifically geared towards elementary and middle school girls. Each year, the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation’s Targeted Grant program supports hundreds of community-based organizations working for progress on a specific issue in Eastern’s New England footprint. In 2018, in celebration of the Bank’s 200th anniversary and to honor its first depositor, Rebecca Sutton, Targeted Grants have been designated to support organizations addressing a range of issues that disproportionately impact women, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, health care, pay equity, and senior management and board representation. Watertown Boys & Girls Club is among 170 nonprofits each receiving a $10,000 grant.
