Boston Basketball Running Camps for Players With a Range of Skills

Young basketball players can build their skills this summer at one of the camps offered by Boston Basketball in Waltham. 

Boys and Girls Summer Camp

Spend your summer improving your game with great coaches! Cost: $225 full day/ $115 half day

Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Program Highlights:

LOW RATES and a Drop-In Rate – $50.00 per Day

Players will gain confidence from:

Challenging ball handling drills
Learn how to create your own shot
Develop your shot (selection, footwork, range and ability)
Develop moves to help attack and finish around the rim

The goal of the clinic is to build better basketball players. Clinic includes:

Individual instruction
Development of the fundamental skills of shooting, offensive techniques, ball handling, proper defense, and passing
Intensive high rep skills training

Girls and Boys Clinic

We want you to leave the clinic with confidence to navigate the court

When: July 25, 2016 – July 28, 2016, 1-4pm

Open to all ages grades 3-10

Cost: $125.00

Join Boston Basketball and Hoop Mountain for elite skills development training.

Free Audio Technician Workshop Offered by Watertown Cable

Watertown residents of all ages are invited to sign up for Watertown Cable Access Corporation’s free Audio Technician class beginning on May 23. In this workshop, attendees will get hands-on training on all of WCA-TV’s audio equipment, including audio mixers, microphones, headsets, and more. Students will also learn best practices for good sound capture and how to troubleshoot any audio issues that may come up. The class will take place onMonday, May 23rd and continue every Monday until June 6th at WCA-TV’s station. These classes will run from 2:30 PM-4:00 PM.

‘Click It or Ticket’ – Watertown Police Participating in Seatbelt Law Enforcement

The Watertown Police Department in partnership with the Highway Safety Division of the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the Massachusetts State Police, and more than 200 Massachusetts police departments will take part in the national Click It or Ticket campaign between May 9 and May 23. This high-visibility enforcement campaign will promote seat belt use through increased traffic enforcement. The campaign is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). “As we begin the busy summer driving season, it is crucial that all motorists buckle up every time they go out, day and night,” said Sgt. David Sampson.

Children Invited to Enter Watertown Mall’s Father’s Day Contest

The Watertown Mall is hosting a Father’s Day Contest! Open to all children under the age 16, this contest is free to enter and the winner will receive $50 Watertown Mall Gift Certificate! Submit a piece of artwork or photo, showing you and your Dad or someone special doing one of your favorite activities together! Use pencils, crayons, markers, paint, or any other materials you would. Watertown Resident Biking 62 Miles to End Alzheimer’s in Honor of Grandfather

Doug Orifice, of Watertown, will bike 62 miles in the 2016 Ride to End Alzheimer’s Saturday, June 11, the Alzheimer’s Association announced. Beginning and ending at Seacoast Science Center in Rye, the Ride provides a 2-mile, 30-mile, 62-mile and 100-mile route along southern New Hampshire and northeastern Massachusetts. Orifice joined the Ride to End Alzheimer’s in 2013 months after he lost his grandfather Alzheimer’s. “After giving the eulogy at my Grandfather’s funeral I made the decision to fight back against this disease,” said Orifice. “Because I’ve seen the seriousness of this disease firsthand, I would like to do my part in making a difference.”

The Watertown Youth Coalition held an informative town meeting on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Watertown Public Library. The event titled “The Well-Being Of Watertown Youth presented the 2014 Youth Risk Behavior Survey results which included an interactive presentation and conversation. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to ALL the educators, parents, peer leaders, students, law enforcement officials, town elected officials and concerned citizens for attending and helping us create such a successful event. We would especially like to thank the following restaurants for their generous food contributions, which so many folks raved about. It was all so delicious!

Launch Watertown Participating in Red Nose Day to End Child Poverty

Launch Watertown trampoline park will take part in Red Nose Day on May 26 and work to end childhood poverty. Come down and jump at Launch on May 26 and get your red nose. Also, 25 percent of your ticket cost will go toward the effort to end childhood poverty. Launch is located at 625 Pleasant Street in Watertown (across from Russo’s).

The Watertown Free Public Library will be running a Free Estate Planning Seminar for town residents. The Watertown Free Public Library is pleased to welcome Matthew J.
