YardArt: Townwide Outdoor Art Exhibition Returns to Watertown

City of WatertownYardArt is back in 2022. Watertown residents can display their art and get on the official map. Watertown residents can tap their creative side and beat the winter blues by participating in YardArt 2022. The second annual outdoor art exhibition begins Friday March 4 and runs through April 3. Entry is free, but participants must register to get onto the YardArt website and onto the official map, said Liz Helfer, the City’s Public Arts & Culture Planner.

Improv Group Brings Star Wars Parody to Mosesian Center for the Arts

On February 25 through 27, Boston’s best comedy club, Improv Asylum, landspeeds from its performance space in Boston’s North End to a theater not so far, far away. Known for its mix of improv and sketch comedy, the stellar group of comedians will premiere its newest show at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown. Taylor, The Next Jedi: An Improvised Star Wars Parody is a fun-filled interactive show where the audience shapes the newest legendary story inspired by our favorite interstellar characters. Each show is driven by audience suggestions, and the star of the show, “Taylor, the Next Jedi,” is picked from the audience. Lightsaber fights, stormtroopers, and of course a Dark Lord (also an audience member) make this immersive and interactive show perfect for Star Wars lovers young and old.

Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

The Watertown Free Public Library previewed the events coming up in February:

Here’s one of the more delightfully quirky programs we’ve ever hosted: On Tuesday evening, 2/8, join WFPL for Watertown Where?! — the first-ever Watertown, USA summit. We’ll meet up virtually to swap local history stories and share what makes our Watertown unique. Watertowns represented include MA, NY, SD, CT, MN, and TN. 

Also coming up: Jerald Walker will join us virtually to discuss his award-winning essay collection, How to Make a Slave, and the acclaimed Illstyle & Peace ensemble will present The History of Hip Hop at the Library for children grades K and up! Library News

“Human/Nature” Art Exhibit Opening at Mosesian Center for the Arts

As the Mosesian Center for the Arts opens its doors after over 20 months of major renovations and closure due to COVID, the group exhibition “Human/Nature” couldn’t be more perfect. Initially scheduled for the spring of 2020, “Human/Nature” raises questions that are more urgentthan ever. How are human activities changing the natural environment? What it would look like to modify the way we live in order to lessen the damage that our impact causes the planet?
