GUEST SPEAKERS via Zoom

The Secret Lives of Backyard and Migratory Birds with Sean Kent, Education Manager, Museum of American Bird Art. Friday, April 9, at 1 pmSpring is a great season for bird watching with migrants returning from their winter grounds in all their breeding finery. This illustrated lecture will feature birds that are commonly seen through out the spring and give you a glimpse into the secret life of birds.

New Rep Theatre Names Award-Winning Director as Interim Leader

The following information was provided by New Rep Theatre:

New Repertory Theatre is delighted to announce the appointment of the Boston-based and award-winning theatre producer and director M. Bevin O’Gara as its Interim Executive Artistic Director effective April 5, 2021. O’Gara succeeds Michael J. Bobbitt, who began his new role as the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council on February 1, 2021. O’Gara will serve in this position for approximately 9-12 months, until the search for a permanent Artistic Director has been completed and a new leader is appointed. During her almost two-decade career in Boston, O’Gara has overseen numerous productions, workshops and readings. She has received numerous Elliot Norton Awards, both as a director for Tribes and Small Mouth Sounds, and as a producer for Our Town and Come Back Little Sheba, which were directed by MacArthur Genius Award recipient David Cromer.

Easter HymnSing to be Hosted by Revels Singing Group Via Zoom

The Watertown-based Revels singing group will host an Easter HymnSing live on Zoom on April 4 at 5 p.m.

Revels provided the following information:

Free to the public! Celebrate Easter with Revels and join us for a short HymnSing at 5:00 PM ET on Easter Sunday! Connect with friends and family from near and far by singing together safely over Zoom. We will sing a handful of traditional Easter hymns and David will also allow time for families to arrange themselves on the Zoom screen so you can sing together with your loved ones. This event is FREE to the public.

This Week’s Small Saves Cartoon: Some Advice from an Expert

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Celebrate the Spring Equinox With the Annual Revels Spring Sing

The following announcement was provided by the Revels:

Announcing Revels Spring Sing: A Free Family Celebration of the Vernal Equinox, Sunday, March 21 at 5:00pm ET on Facebook Live! Spring is in the air! That means Revels is gearing up for our annual celebration of the Vernal Equinox! This year’s Spring Sing, part of our 2021 #RevelsConnects performance series, will take place on Sunday, March 21 at 5:00 pm ET on Revels Facebook Live page: www.facebook.com/therevels/live. Revels launched Spring Sing more than 25 years ago to celebrate the spring equinox in song and poetry. This year’s theme is “Renewal” and includes song and poetry with uplifting and hopeful energy and excellent singalong potential. In addition, two young poets will be reciting their own poems, written expressly for this year’s Spring Sing.

New Rep Theatre Putting on Video Production of One-Woman Play, “Unveiled”
