Concert Featuring Sally Rogers, Howie Bursen Benefits Watertown Group

Nationally known singer-songwriters Sally Rogers and Howie Bursen will appear in concert Saturday, April 2 at 8 p.m. The concert is sponsored jointly by First Parish Watertown Unitarian-Universalist and the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston. All profits will benefit the Helen Robinson Wright Charitable Fund, which provides Watertown residents with short-term aid in emergency situations. Concert admission is $25, with tickets on sale at the door or online at BrownPaperTickets.com. Sale of light refreshments will also benefit the Wright Fund. The location is First Parish Watertown, 35 Church St.

See Who John Goodman Will Play in ‘Patriots Day,’ Release Date Announced

CBS Films and Lionsgate announced that Golden Globe-winner John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane, Inside Llewyn Davis, Argo) will join Academy Award-Winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Zootopia) and Academy Award-nominee Mark Wahlberg (The Departed, Lone Survivor) in Patriots Day, the film company announced. The film will be directed by Peter Berg (Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor) and produced by Scott Stuber, Mark Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky. Patriots Day chronicles the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. Goodman will play former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.  Commissioner Davis played an integral role in working with the FBI, Watertown Police Department, Boston Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and local first responders to track, identify and apprehend the suspected bombers. “Commissioner Davis is an American hero, and John Goodman brings the extraordinary combination of humility, gravitas and empathy to portray him,” commented Berg.

Watertown Art Gallery Hosting Opening Reception for Newest Exhibit

Watertown art gallery Room 83 Spring will host an opening reception for its latest exhibit, which features three artists. 

The exhibit runs through April 30 and a reception will he held Saturday, March 12 from 5-7 p.m. The gallery, locate at 83 Spring St. in Watertown, is open Thursdays 3-7 p.m., Saturdays 12-4 p.m. and anytime by appointment. Easter Bunny, Irish Dancers Coming to the Watertown Mall

The Watertown Mall is hosting a couple of events to celebrate Easter and St. Patrick’s Day.

Come to the enchanted village and see the Easter Bunny for yourself. Photographs with the Easter Bunny will be available at the Watertown Mall’s Easter Village, located near Carter’s. Hours of operation are 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Thursdays- Saturdays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays. The Easter Bunny Village will be open on the following dates: March 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25 and 26. Please note that the Easter Bunny goes to lunch from 2-3 p.m. each day.

Tremedal Concert Series Starts on March 19 with a Twin Bill

Tremedal will kick off its 2016 Coffeehouse Concert series this month with an evening of music featuring two musical acts. The concerts are at First Parish Church in Watertown, and the first one includes David Dodson and John & Rachel Nicholas. The concert will be on Saturday, March 19 at 8p.m. at First Parish Unitarian Church, 35 Church St., Watertown. Proceeds from the events help students from Watertown’s Sister Community in El Salvador, Nueva Esperanza, attend high school and college. Three concerts have been planned.:

The Watertown Free Public Library’s annual One Book One Watertown program kicked off with a community discussion of the book “The Race Underground: Boston, New York, and the Incredible Rivalry that Built America’s First Subway” by Doug Most on Wednesday, but there are many events still to come. High School Photographers Can Enter Watertown Savings’ Contest

Watertown Savings Bank (WSB) is seeking submissions for their Annual High School Photography contest. If you are a high school student who lives or attends school in Arlington, Belmont, Lexington, Newton, Waltham, and Watertown you are eligible to participate. The 12 winning photographs will be published in the bank’s 2017 calendar, which is distributed free to thousands of WSB customers and community members annually. WSB is looking for photos that depict scenes from the local community. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, April 17 at midnight.
