James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”
“Florida Flower,” a watercolor by Watertown’s Audrey Childs. Watertown’s Audrey Childs will host a series of classes on a variety of methods used in watercolor painting. She sent out the following information:
Students will learn how to use and control their paints effectively. Methods will include using a dry brush and what effects a paper towel and a porous sponge can create. The class is designed to help the student gain confidence with the medium. Beginners will Learn the fundamental techniques of watercolor. Intermediate students will have new challenges with an emphasis on exploring techniques.
Arsenal Yards and the Watertown Community Foundation want to find Watertown’s top talent. Performers can try out to be part of Watertown’s Got Talent, which will take place on at Arsenal Yards’ Fall Falladays on Wednesday, Oct. 26 5:30-7:30 p.m.
If you think you have what it takes to be crowned Watertown’s Top Talent apply by Wednesday, Oct. 5. A preliminary panel of judges will review the applications and select those who will compete on Oct.
“Father & Daughter, Afghanistan, 1976.” by Joseph Flack Weiler, is one of the images that will be on display at the Watertown Library. “Faces of Afghanistan, 1976,” which showcases the photography of Watertown resident Joseph Flack Weiler, will be on show at the Watertown Free Public Library, 123 Main St., from Oct. 2 to 30, 2022. The Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown has announced a fall season of performances, exhibitions, and arts education programs. From theater, comedy, dance, and music to new exhibitions and arts education, from returning favorites to new partnerships, there’s plenty of variety in this season’s programming. Performances
The Ivy League of Comedy brings Jon Fisch, Karen Bergreen, and Shaun Eli to Mosesian Arts on October 7. A native of Boston, Jon Fisch was chosen as a Comedy Central Fresh Face of Comedy early in his career and was named one of Backstage Magazine’s 10 Standout Stand-ups. Karen Bergreen is a comic and novelist who has appeared on Comedy Central, the Oxygen network, Nick Mom, The View, and The Joy Behar Show. Host and master storyteller Shaun Eli proves that there’s hilarity in the ordinary if you approach life with a comedic warp.

Kallet, Epstein & Cicone will perform in the Farewell Concert for the Tremedal Concert Series. After more than three decades the Watertown-based Tremedal Concert Series will hold one final, farewell concert. For 32 years the Watertown/El Salvador sister city project presented folk concerts at FirstParish Unitarian Church of Watertown. “All proceeds benefited our El Salvadoran sister city Nueva Esperanza (New Hope). Funds supported many villager projects including truck repairs; doors, windows and rain barrels for new homes; and maintaining adequate medical supplies,” Tremedal’s announcement said.
