Film Festival, Artwork for All Ages & Art Classes at Mosesian Center in August

The Mosesian Center for the Arts (MCA) in Watertown has announced a schedule for the month of August that includes performances, exhibitions, and registration for fall classes and productions. “With daily arts education programs, events and exhibitions, and planning for the season ahead, summer is one of our busiest times,” said Executive Director Darren Farrington. “Every month, we offer a diverse variety of the best in performing and visual arts that Greater Boston has to offer, and we hope people will take advantage of easy access to the arts at the Arsenal.”

The Watertown Arts Market returns to Arsenal Park on Saturday, Aug. 13th, noon-5 p.m. Rain date of Aug. 14. Over 120 artists and organizations who live or work in the area will be there – we hope you will be too! 

The Watertown Arts Market is an initiative of the Watertown Business Coalition, this year in partnership with the City of Watertown.

Video Gaming Truck Coming to Watertown, Rec Offers Zoo Trip

Gamers can head to Victory Field for some fun on Thursday, and a trip to the zoo is planned by the Watertown Recreation Department next week. Gaming

The Ultimate Gaming Truck will be at Victory Field on Orchard Street on Thursday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. Watertown residents are invited to come down and play some video games at the free event sponsored by the Recreation Department. More than a dozen people can play at once on game systems including PS5 and Xbox X.

Zoo Trip

On Monday, August 1 the Parks Program will be visiting the Southwick’s Zoo in Mendon, which has more than 850 animals on its 200 acres. Participants must be Watertown residents, ages 9 to 18 and registered for the Watertown Parks Program.

Junior Eurovison Winner from Armenia Giving Free Concert

Berklee College of MusicArmenian singer Maléna, the winner of the Junior Eurovision competition, will perform free in Boston. The following information was provided by Berklee College of Music:

Internationally recognized singer-songwriter Arpine Martoyan, known by her professional stage name Maléna, will perform in Boston this summer after receiving the Armenian Scholarship to attend a coveted Berklee summer program. The 15-year-old emerging star will sing her hit “Qami Qami,” the song that won her the 2021 Junior Eurvision competition, at the Armenian Heritage Park on the Rose Kennedy Greenway on Sunday, July 31 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Through the scholarship, Maléna gained sponsorship to this year’s Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive, a prestigious program whose alumni include Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor, and offers one-on-one instruction with leading Berklee professors as well as college credit to up-and-coming artists. “It’s only been two weeks, but I’ve already learned so much,” said Maléna about the Aspire program.

Get Into the Swing at the Watertown Summer Concert Wednesday Night

The Rico Bar Band featuring the JJR Horns will be playing in Watertown at a free concert. This week’s Saltonstall Park Summer Concert features a a band nominated as Swing Band of The Year by the National Swing Awards. The Rico Barr Band Featuring the JJR Horns will perform Wednesday, July 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the park next to City Hall (149 Main St.). The concert is free. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the music.
