20th Annual Healing Garden Music Fest Benefits Mount Auburn Hospital

Mount Auburn Hospital, along with Terry Eagan and Patio Records, are pleased to be presenting the 20th Annual Healing Garden Music Fest on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, the hospital announced. The concert will feature country, folk, and traditional music performances by Rick Fines, Barbara Kessler, Garnet Rogers, Suzie Vinnick, and featured guests Richard Gates, Matt Leavenworth, Dave Mattacks, and Scott Neubert. 100 percent of the concert’s proceeds will go towards funding a future healing garden at Mount Auburn Hospital. Terry Eagan, a longtime Waltham resident and friend of Mount Auburn Hospital, began these festivals 19 years ago to raise funds to fulfill his wife Mary Eagan’s dream of having a healing garden built for patients suffering from cancer.

Fundraiser for Cops for Kids with Cancer at Chateau in Waltham

On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Chateau Restaurant of Waltham will host a fundraiser for a charity that provides money to help the families of children with cancer – Cops for Kids with Cancer. Fundraiser for Sober Living Scholarship for Women Features a Psychic Medium

Maria Halvorsen, popular psychic medium,will headline an event at The Arlington Sons of Italy, on Friday, Oct. 7 from 7­-10:30 p.m. to bring messages of love, hope and faith and to raise funds for a scholarship to help women who lack the resources to enter sober housing following treatment for substance use disorder. Guests will also hear Maryann Frangules, director of MOAR (Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery) speak about the challenges those seeking addiction treatment face in Massachusetts. The night will also include music, performance art and an Italian buffet. The event is organized by Magnolia New Beginnings, a non-­profit that assists families dealing with Substance Use Disorder.

Fifth Annual Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry Walk on Saturday

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR) is hosting its fifth Annual Walk of Life. This fundraiser benefits ABMDR, an international non-profit organization that helps recruit bone marrow donors to match with patients suffering from life-threatening blood-related diseases. Due to their unique genetic makeup, people of Armenian descent worldwide have a higher percentage of finding a potential donor through the ABMDR.

The walk begins at 11 a.m. at the Armenian Cultural and Education Center (ACEC) at 47 Nichols Ave. and will end 2.2 miles later at the Faire on the Square at Saltonstall Park.

Watertown Police Officer Running from Springfield to Boston for Charity

When Brandon O’Neill wakes up Friday morning, instead of getting ready to patrol the streets of Watertown he will get ready for a run – one which will take more than a day and cover 106 miles. O’Neill, who has been on the Watertown Police Department for six years, will take part in theSpringfield Ride to Remember. This is the fourth ride, which started to raise public awareness of officers who have died in the line of duty, and to raise funds for the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial in Boston. This year’s ride is dedicated to Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr. of the Auburn Police and Mass. State Trooper Thomas Clardy, both of whom died in the course of duty in 2016.

Watertown Man Helps Raise Money for Breast Cancer Research at Gala

Scheinbart was among the nearly 400 breast cancer survivors and supporters who were inspired and motivated for the fundraising walk set for Oct. 2 at the DCR Hatch Shell in Boston. Watertown Woman Running Falmouth Road Race for Brain Injury Association

The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts team will run in one of the “best non-marathon races in the country” to raise funds to support its mission as Team BIA-MA competes in the New Balance Falmouth Road Race on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, BIA-MA announced. The annual seven-mile race attracts an estimated 11,000 racers from across the globe — 10 of these participants form Team BIA-MA, each with their own personal connection to BIA-MA and brain injuries: Julia Doucett (Watertown) runs for the survivors that have touched her heart during her work as a brain injury rehab therapist; Julie Marlowe (Woburn) runs for her son, a brain injury survivor; Janelle Hickey, (Roslindale) runs for her mother, a survivor who has been supported by BIA for over 20 years; Courtney Farrell (Hopedale) runs for her sister, who suffered a brain injury during a cheerleading performance; Katie McNamara (Clinton) runs for her mother and other survivors no longer able to run; Matt Martino (Lynnfield) runs for his brother, a brain injury survivor; Andrea Zuchora (Westborough) runs for her mother, and all mothers and daughters affected by brain injury; Beth Pusey (Holden) is part of the BIA-MA staff hoping to help further the organization’s mission. Charles Bostwick (Westborough) and JoAnne Young (South Easton) complete the 2016 Team BIA-MA. While the Falmouth Road Race was not intended to be a charity race, their “Numbers for Nonprofit” program allows organizations like BIA-MA to race and raise funds through FirstGiving, the race’s official fundraising partner. Donations to Team BIA-MA support leadership, support services, advocacy, and prevention and education programs.
