The Watertown Police Department will host their fourth annual 5K road race and walk in April, and you can sign up now. The WPD put out the following announcement:

We cordially invite you to participate in the 4th annual Watertown Police Finish Strong 5K road race and walk. This event will support the Watertown Police Relief Committee and the Watertown Police Supervisors Association. The Watertown Police Relief Association was organized in 1936 and changed to the Watertown Police Relief Committee in 2008. Our membership is comprised of sworn personnel, regardless of rank, as well as all retired officers.

Sign Up to Get Smoke Alarms Installed, Learn Fire Safety from the Red Cross

The American Red Cross, Metro Massachusetts unit, will visit Watertown on Saturday, March 11 as part of its Home Fire Campaign to teach people how to be prepared for home fires and to install smoke alarms where needed. Seven times a day someone in this country dies in a home fire. Countless others suffer injuries. To combat these tragic statistics, the Red Cross has launched a nationwide campaign to reduce the number of deaths and injuries due to home fires by 25 percent. The Home Fire Campaign is happening all over the country and involves Red Cross workers joining with local fire departments and community groups to visit neighborhoods at high risk for fires.

Police Log: Man Hits Home With Car Repeatedly, Misunderstanding Over Uber

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests
Feb. 17, 4:40 p.m.: Police stopped a vehicle on Pleasant Street for crossing over marked lanes, and having improper inspection. When police spoke to the woman they discovered she had an arrest warrant in her name. The 44-year-old Newton woman was arrested on the warrant from Brookline District Court for traffic offenses.

Watertown Man Stabbed in Newton, Quincy Man Faces Intent to Murder Charge

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that Chad Kirby, 36, of Quincy, was arraigned today in Newton District Court and charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Judge Daniel Crane ordered the defendant held without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing and to undergo a mental health evaluation. The next scheduled hearing in this case is Monday, March 6. On Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Newton Police responded to a report of a stabbing that took place on Watertown Street in Newton. Upon arrival authorities observed the victim, a 53-year-old Watertown man, bleeding from a head wound.

Police Log: Man Caught Breaking into Cars at Library, Apartment Broken Into

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrest
Jan. 31, 6:10 p.m.: A witness reported seeing a man walking up to vehicles in the parking lot behind the Watertown Free Public Library and trying to open their doors. Police found a man fitting the description of the suspect in the library and spoke with him. The suspect said he thought it was his friend’s car and when he opened the door there was someone inside.
