Nov. 17, 2:17 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Mt. Auburn Street spotted a man in 7-Eleven who he knew was wanted on a warrant. The 27-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from Brighton District Court for traffic offenses.

Nov. 9, 5:42 p.m.: A woman was stopped in the Gap Outlet after she was seen taking clothing and putting it in her purse and attempted to leave. She had $130 worth of items. The 22-year-old Cambridge woman was arrested for shoplifting. Nov.
Watertown Police closed down a block in East Watertown after receiving a call about a possible hostage situation, but the call ended up being a false alarm. A man called police around noon Thursday and said he saw a man in an apartment on Adams Street with a gun, and thought the man was holding someone hostage, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. As police continued to speak with the man, however, the story began falling apart, said Interim Police Chief Ray Dupuis. “The more he talked, the more it changed,” Dupuis said. When police finally entered the apartment, they found that it was empty.
The Watertown Police will hold a training for community members interested in learning about dealing with an active shooter event. The training features parts of the ALICE model for schools, and the Department of Homeland Security Run, Hide, Fight model for businesses, according to the Watertown Police announcement. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate (see below for more info). “In light of recent events, the WPD feels that it is important to empower the community with response options for active shooter events should the unthinkable happen,” the announcement said. The training will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Community Room in the Watertown Police Station, 552 Main St.

Nov. 3, 1:46 p.m.: An employee of a jewelry cart at the Watertown Mall complained about being harassed by a man. Police questioned the 41-year-old man from Watertown and found he had a warrant for a probation violation. The man was arrested.
When Watertown Police made a prostitution bust at a massage parlor located in a large home on Mt. Auburn Street, it did not surprise neighbors. A New York woman was busted on a charge of sexual conduct for a fee after Watertown Police sting (read more here). Nearby residents have made several complaints over the years about activities at the 195 Mt. Auburn St.

Oct. 27, 2:03 a.m.: Police talked to a man who was stopped on Nichols Avenue. He said he was in the area looking for a friend’s house. When police ran an inquiry, they found the man was wanted on a warrant.
A Watertown man faces charges of a fifth OUI offense after allegedly getting into an accident on Halloween. On Oct. 31 at 11:28 p.m., police responded to Palfrey Street after an accident was reported. A black Ford pickup truck struck a telephone pole, and then left the scene, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Officers found the vehicle on Everett Avenue near Palfrey Street, and it had extensive damage, O’Connor said.
