Police Log: Social Security Scam Hits Twice, Man Faces OUI, Drug Charges

Sept. 17, 12:03 p.m.: Home Depot security spotted a man who tried to take two three-packs of BIM precision blades valued at $80, and two packages of AAA batteries valued at $9.98. He was stopped and the 41-year-old Dorchester man was arrested on a charge of shoplifting and he was trespassed by Home Depot. Sept.

Watertown Firefighter Graduates from Boston Fire Academy

Firefighter Ryan Hoey graduated from the Boston Fire Department’s fire academy this week. He is shown with Watertown Fire Chief Bob Quinn. Watertown Fire Chief Bob Quinn announced that Firefighter Ryan Hoey graduated from the Boston Fire Department’s fire academy. “I wanted to let you know that today Firefighter Ryan Hoey graduated from the Boston Fire Department Regional Metro Fire Recruit Training Academy,” Quinn said. The academy was run by Boston Fire department to train new firefighters in the Metro Fire departments.

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian joined current and former law enforcement leaders for a Capitol Hill briefing Wednesday, September 17, on the importance of restoring Pell Grants and expanding other higher education opportunities for incarcerated students. The event was hosted by Law Enforcement Leaders to Reduce Crime & Incarceration, of which Sheriff Koutoujian is a founding member.

Argument Leads to Co-Worker Being Stabbed at Watertown Tire Store

An argument between co-workers at a Watertown tire store ended in a fight in which one was stabbed by a tire tool. A staff member at Doctors Express urgent care alerted Watertown Police that a man who had suffered a stab wound came in for treatment on Sept. 13 at 2:38 p.m.

“The staff explained that a patient came in with a minor stab wound,” said O’Connor, who added that they man had left before police arrived, but the business got his name and his place of employment — Town Fair Tires. The store is located west of Doctors Express on Arsenal Street. When police spoke with the man, he said that he had gotten into an argument with a co-worker while working in one of the bays at Town Fair Tire, and the incident turned physical.
