Two People Arrested for Dealing Drugs After Joint Effort by Watertown, Boston Police

A man and a woman face drug dealing charges after an investigation involving both Boston and Watertown Police detectives. On the evening of Oct. 26, 2018, Watertown Police were contacted by the Boston Police District 14 Drug Control Unit about a vehicle they were tailing that had entered Watertown. The Boston detectives, out of the Brighton precinct, requested the assistance of Watertown detectives in the surveillance of the suspects, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Police followed the suspects’ vehicle to Robert Ford Road.

Work of Watertown Police, Firefighters Recognized by Post Office with Special Stamp

The U.S. Postal Service honored Watertown’s police officers and firefighters  Thursday with the unveiling of a stamp recognizing first responders. 

The Post Office is presenting local departments with a plaque featuring a larger image of the limited edition stamps. Linda Beattie, manager of Watertown’s three post offices, presented the plaques to Watertown Police Chief Michael Lawn, Watertown Deputy Fire Chief Dan Tardif, and Watertown Firefighter and EMT David Meagher during a ceremony at the Watertown Police Station. “For the work they did with the Boston Marathon bombers, we wanted to recognize them for their heroic actions,” Beattie said. “It has a special meaning for this town.” The stamp features three figures: a red firefighter holding an ax, a white paramedic holding a medical bag, and a blue police office shining a flashlight into the dark background partially filled with smoke.

Watertown Winter Parking Ban Dates Announced by Police Chief

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department:

Watertown Chief of Police Michael P. Lawn has announced the 2018-2019 Winter Parking Ban dates. Effective Nov. 26, 2018 and continuing to April 1, 2019 the Winter Parking Ban will be in effect and strictly enforced. The regulation reads in part; “No vehicle may remain on any public way for more than one hour between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. all days of the week.” For residents who lack sufficient off-street parking, the Town allows for temporary parking at any municipal parking lot and other locations noted:
• The police station at 552 Main St. (visitor’s parking lot only)
• Any public school parking lot • Marion Road parking lot at Victory Field
• O’Connell Park, (lot at the corner of Boylston Street and Mt.

Watertown Police Hosting Prescription Drug Take Back Event

The Watertown Police Department provided the following information:

The Watertown Police Department is taking back unwanted prescription drugs Oct. 27 at 552 Main Street Watertown. On Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Watertown Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public its 16th opportunity in eight years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Two-Alarm Fire Damages Three Story Watertown Home

A fire caused extensive damage to a three-family home on Spruce Street early Friday morning. 

No one was injured in the blaze which turned into a two-alarm fire reported at 1:24 a.m., according to information provided by Watertown Fire Chief Bob Quinn. The fire was ruled to be accidental caused by electrical wires. All the residents had evacuated by the time the Waterown Fire Department arrived at 1:33 a.m. A second alarm was called nine minutes after firefighters arrived, Quinn said. The third floor sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage, and the first and second floors also had some fire, smoke and water damage
