Dozens of Watertown Department of Public Works crews and contractors plowed 20 inches of snow off Watertown’s 72 miles of roadway, after the snowstorm that hit the City on Jan. 25 and 26, City Manager George Proakis said. The City also issued 69 parking tickets and 50 warnings and fines for failing to shovel sidewalks.
Tuesday night, a citizens group presented the City Council with a petition to support a resolution encouraging the federal government to seek nuclear disarmament in the United States and the other eight nations that have nuclear weapons. The proposal split the Council, which rejected it down by one vote.
Increasing costs of special education tuition has contributed to the sharp increase in the school budget over the past few years, Superintendent Dede Galdston told the School Committee on Monday night, and for budget for the 2026-27 school year the district will have to find ways to close a multi-million dollar deficit.
The 2025 Watertown Farmers Market season is almost here, and the market features several new vendors, including dumplings, jerky, tea, and the return of an ice cream vendor. Thank you to the more than 350 community and corporate volunteers who volunteered during the 11th annual Watertown Helps Out (WHO), a month of community service organized by the Watertown Community Foundation.
While most of the fun in town takes place on Saturday, happy hour at City Works comes with half price bar bites every workday, so why not start your weekend with a few fried pickles and some popcorn chicken? Saturday afternoon there is a board game social at Deaf, Inc. which is open to all who love some table-top dice thowing, card playing or bingo card dabbing. Saturday night there is a concert at First Parish Church called Hub of the Musiverse 4. Even the name of the concert is interesting! For those with young children, take them to the Mosesian to be inspired to sing like whoever-their-favorite-singer is for a Watertown Children’s Theatre vocal concert. And Sunday afternoon, it’s time to eat Armenian treats, listen to Armenian music and dance the day away at the St. James Annual Armenian Festival.

Watertown has become the home training spot for the Boston Renegades, a beep baseball team. The sport allows players with vision impairments to continue to play and be part of a team.
The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) announced Stefano A. Barresi from Watertown, MA, has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization. The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship, and community commitment.
