The possibility of building a new Middle School in Watertown moved a step closer to becoming a reality at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The Council also approved funding for projects at City parks, the library, Police Station, and for Watertown’s Treaty Day celebration.

Worcester Academy held its 183rd Commencement Exercises June 2 with 135 seniors graduating, the school announced. Among the graduates was Roman Davis of Watertown. He was recognized on the First Semester Honor Roll and Headmaster’s list for 2016-2017.
Changes will be made to help bicyclists get through and around one of Watertown’s more tricky intersections.
On Friday, July 28, people will paddle the Charles River on their way to work to celebrate a healthy river and raise funds for Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA). People participating in Paddle to Work Day hosted by Charles River Canoe and Kayak will kayak from Soldier’s Field Road in Allston/Brighton 5 miles downstream to Kendall Square in Cambridge. Individuals who work in Kendall Square will have paddled to work, while others can take public transportation to their desired destinations.
There are eight open houses around Watertown this week.
Watertown’s Bridget Sullivan recently traveled to Michigan to compete against the top gymnasts of her age at Junior Olympic Competition.
Planning for redesigning Arsenal Park has begun, and Watertown officials want to hear from the public about how they think the park should be improved.
Watertown Boys & Girls Club announced it is participating in the Macy’s Shop for a Cause Charity Challenge. This friendly competition has non-profit organizations go head to head to see who can raise the most money for their cause.
