WEEKEND FUN: Day of the Dead, Armenian Church Bazaar, HG Wells Audio Dramas & More

Fear not! The days of ghouls and church bazaars are not over yet. On Friday and Saturday you can celebrate the Day of the Dead at Condesa Restaurante in Arsenal Yards. Or if you are more in the mood for Armenian food, St. Stephen’s Church will be selling Kebab dinners among other treats on those same evenings. After dinner you might stroll over to the Mosesian Center to hear some classic radio dramas by H.G. Wells. If you’ve been contemplating meditating after the Halloween events, the library is holding a four-week introduction to Raja Yoga Meditation on Saturday afternoon. Then you can polish off the weekend at First Parish Church on Sunday. There you can do good at the same time as you treat yourself to a relaxing massage, where your $20 will benefit Doctors without Borders.

With plans for a testimonial dinner in celebration of Coach John Barbati on November 26, it’s a good time to reflect on the impact he made on me and the many kids who played for him over his 24 years as head football coach at Watertown High School. It’s hard to believe 50 years have passed, but I still can remember clearly lessons Coach imparted that helped me and so many others succeed under his tutelage.
