Watertown’s Eliza Dushku Attends White House Signing of Bill That Ends Forced Arbitration in Sexual Assault, Harassment Cases

Watertown’s Eliza Dushku visited the White House last week to attend President Biden’s signing of a bill that ends forced arbitration in cases of sexual assault and sexual harassment in the workplace and to allow survivors to file lawsuits in court against perpetrators. Dushku has been outspoken about issue since she went public with her experience on the set of the CBS show Bull, where she said she was sexually harassed by the show’s star. In November 2021, she was one of several women who testified before the House Judiciary Committee. After the signing, Dusku sent out a Tweet saying: “FORCED arbitration FOR sexual harassment & assault is officially OVER!”

When she testified before Congress, Dushku said that now when her name is brought up, it is not for her acting, producing or other work.

Rotary Club Spreads Valentine’s Greetings to Seniors Through Service Project

Rotary Club of WatertownMembers of the Rotary Club of Watertown, and some guests, wrote Valentine’s Day cards for seniors in town. Dozens of seniors around Watertown received Valentine’s Day cards thanks to the Rotary Club of Watertown. A group of four Rotarians, and two potential new members, gathered at Panera Bread one morning in January to write out cheerful messages for the recipients, said Lilia Weisfeldt, president of Watertown Rotary. “We created 100 personalized cards for local seniors,” Weisfeldt said. The cards were printed by one of the Rotary members, and delivered to the Watertown Senior Center by another member.

Watertown High School sent wrestlers to both the boys and girls State Wrestling tournament, and a pair of wrestlers made runs in their bracket. Four girls from Watertown participated in the All-State Meet, which was held in Fitchburg on Feb. 26 and 27. While nearly a dozen members of the boys’ team wrestled at the Div. 3 North Meet, with one advancing to sectionals.
