Mosesian Center Winter Dates Includes Watertown Children’s Theatre, Jazz & Art Exhibitions

Recently reopened after a major renovation of the lobby and gallery spaces, the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown has announced a winter season of performances, exhibitions, and classes for diverse art enthusiasts and creators of every age and type. “After waiting over eighteen months to reopen,” said Executive Director Darren Farrington, “we’re thrilled offer so much to do, see, learn, and create at Mosesian Arts this winter. While COVID has delayed the start of some January programming, we’re taking precautions seriously and we’re hopeful that audiences and students will see us as a safe and welcoming destination for the arts.”

Performances

The Dark House, a world premiere play by Rachel Maddox, explores technology, influencers, and popularity gone wrong in a contemporary thriller that reflects on the power of social media and how much control it has in our lives. The play features actors in grades 6 through 8 in the Watertown Children’s Theatre program. January 28-30. Clue: On Stage is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery based on the iconic movie and classic board game.

Watertown Dance Studio Offering Free Trial Classes in Winter Session

The following information was provided by Move & Groove Watertown:

Move & Groove Watertown and Ballroom in Boston are so excited to be offering kids dance classes this winter! Thanks to a generous grant from the Watertown Cultural Council and in conjunction with our nonprofit, Dancing Feet, we are able to offer two free dance classes for kiddos: Dance With Me and Jazz & Ballet! These classes are a great way for kids to give dance a try in a safe and positive environment! If your kid loves to twirl around the house, these classes are perfect for them! 

Jazz & Ballet Combo: January 8th, 15th OR 22nd, 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., ages 4-6 years, 45 minutes

Our Ballet/Jazz Combo class teaches children the basics of ballet and jazz in a fun and creative way. This class is great for first time dancers!

Work of Sculptor, Painter Adria Arch on Show at Watertown Art Gallery

One of the pieces by Adria Arch on display at Storefront Art Projects on Spring Street. Storefront Art Projects, located at 83 Spring St. in Watertown, announced it is hosting Adria Arch’s The Visitors, until January 8, 2022. Since 2019, Adria’s suspended kinetic shapes have been shown at the Danforth, Brattleboro, Fitchburg, Bristol and Cahoon Museums. She keeps pushing and combining the limits of mobile, stabile, sculpture and painting.These are her latest paintings and sculpture, all completed during the Pandemic. Open Thursdays and Saturdays 1 – 4 and anytime by appointment

Watertown Studio Holding Holiday Pottery Sale

Indigo Fire will host a Holiday Pottery Sale at its studio in Watertown. The sale will be Dec. 10 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Dec. 11 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Indigo Fire recently expanded to the location at 79R Grove St. this past summer, and would love to open up our doors for Watertown residents to take a peek at this new space, to celebrate our studio artists, and maybe to find a gift or two for a loved one!

Watertown Quilters’ Connection Hosting Auction, Grab & Go Event

One of the quilts that will be up for auction at the Quilters’ Connection event. Quilters’ Connection announced it will hold the third Bi-annual Auction on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, featuring an auction of quilts/wall hangings and and so much more!!! Also “A Grab & Go” table with an assortment of fabrics. Some of the quilt pieces in the live auction were donated by renowned quilt artists like Nancy Crasco, Sylvia Einstein and Judy Becker.

Young Watertown Dancer Performing in City Ballet of Boston’s “Urban Nutcracker”

Watertown dancer Caroline Marsh Zinser will be performing in the City Ballet of Boston’s “Urban Nutcracker” this December. The following announcement was provided by City Boston Ballet:

Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker, the modern Boston-centric holiday classic presented byCity Ballet of Boston, celebrates its 20th season this December! The live in-person performances at the Boch Center Shubert Theatre showcase winter scenes set in present-day downtown Boston, blending the rhythms of Duke Ellington with the classical music of Tchaikovsky. Anchored by classical ballet, the performances also include a broad range of dance forms such as tap, hip-hop, flamenco, and jazz, accompanied by a 16-piece live orchestra of local musicians. Dancer and Watertown resident Caroline Marsh Zinser will be performing in the Boston holiday classic this season.
