WEEKEND FUN: Shakespeare, Egg Hunt, Passover Seder, Art Bike Ride, Music

ASP’s production of “Midsummer’s Night Dream” begins its run at the Mosesian Center for the Arts this weekend. Let’s start this weekend laughing along with Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Mosesian on Friday night. Then Saturday morning, should you have a young one in tow, get in the spring frame of mind with an egg hunt at the Brigham House. Saturday and Sunday evening there are community Seders for the beginning of Passover, the Jewish holiday that celebrates freedom and justice. Sunday morning hop on your bike and head to City Hall for a group bike tour of the town’s YardArt. There is an incredible range of artistic displays in people’s front yards.

YardArt Watertown Hosts Artworks & Events Through April

YardArt, a month-long outdoor citywide art exhibition taking place in Watertown, has returned for a fifth year this April. Nearly one hundred artworks are on display at homes throughout the city and in public exhibitions at Commander’s Mansion and Gore Place. YardArt is a community celebration of the inventiveness and the creativity in us all. Displayed pieces showcase the work of professionals, amateurs, hobbyists, adults, children, and students of all ages. Works include sculptures, mobiles, painted and covered materials, lighting displays, and art of all types and sizes.

Local Art Gallery Hosting Show During YardArt 2025

Watertown gallery Storefront Art Projects is participating in YardArt 2025, the community-wide celebration of creativity and fun in front yards, porches, and windows around town. The exhibition called Dancing in the Dark, Resistance, Persistence and the Pursuit of Happiness runs through April 5-26. See details in the announcement from Storefront Art Projects below. Take a Walking or Bike Tour of This Year’s Watertown YardArt

Through the month of April, Watertown is showing off its artistic side during the annual YardArt exhibition. Organizers have put together some tours of this year’s front-yard artwork. The Watertown Public Arts and Culture Committee sent out the following information. YardArt is a community-wide celebration of creativity and fun in front yards, porches, and windows all over Watertown. It’s easy, free, and fun to participate!

Celebrate YardArt at Reception at a Watertown Art Gallery

The following announcement was provided by Storefront Art Projects:

It’s the 4th Annual YardArt, a spring celebration of creativity and fun in front yards, porches and windows all over Watertown!! Throughout April, www.storefrontartprojects.com will show collages by Cat Bennett, Marieju Dawe, Xavier Haurie and Ellen Wineberg. And we’ll again have Dianne Jenkins’ dolls made with recycled fabric and funky do-dads, colorful kids’ clothes by Helen McMullen and whimsical creations in clay and cloth by Maggie Stern. Paul Angiolillo brings back his giant pencils, and there’s multimedia art by six children and an impactful quilt by Adrienne Sloane calling out gun violence. A reception will be held at Storefront Art Projects, 83 Spring St., Watertown, on Saturday, April 6, 1-4 p.m.

YardArt returns to Watertown this year for the entire month of April. The community-wide event begins Monday, April 1 and lasts through Tuesday, April 30, 2024. A variety of artful and whimsical installations will be displayed on front yards, porches, and storefronts throughout Watertown. Watertown residents, families, organizations, clubs, classes, artists, and businesses are invited to create something of their own–a gizmo, a sculpture, an art project, a lighting arrangement—let your imagination run free!
