OBIT: Robert Aiden Doyle, 77, Former Youth Sports Coach

Robert Aiden Doyle of Watertown died Friday Aug. 29, 2014 after a lengthy illness at the age of 77.

Doyle died at the Alliance Healthcare Center in Braintree, where he had been a resident for several years.

He is the devoted Father of Sandra D. Curlander and her husband James of Bellevue, Wash., Robert A. Doyle, Jr. of Needham, and James C. Doyle of South Boston. Loving grandfather of Siena Curlander. Dear brother of Sandra J. Doyle of Watertown and the late Irene A. Doyle.

Doyle was born on June 26, 1937 and graduated from Watertown High School in 1955. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Boston University in 1960. Mr. Doyle worked at Commonwealth Electric Company for 26 years.

A U.S. Army Veteran, he was an avid fisherman and when his children were young, he spent countless hours as a scout leader and baseball and soccer coach. He loved wood-working, tinkering with old cars, and photography.

Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home 270 Main St., Watertown, on Thursday at 8 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown at 9 a.m. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 PM. Relatives & friends kindly invited. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
