Police Log: Man Attacks 2 Police Officers, Shoplifters Try to Take Big Items from Target

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

June 29, 10:01 p.m.: A motor vehicle accident occurred on Landon Avenue and when police arrived they detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver suffered injuries and was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital for treatment. Police later discovered the driver had prescriptions pills. The 54-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving under the influence of drugs.

June 30, 12:40 a.m.: Police were called to the area near Halfway Cafe to check on a driver. They spotted a car matching the description driving eastbound on Main Street without its lights on. When the car was pulled over, officers detected an odor of alcohol on the driver. The 29-year-old Watertown man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, marked lanes violation and driving without lights at night.

June 30, 8:14 p.m.: A man was spotted taking a bicycle from inside Target without paying for it. Police located the man at Nichols Avenue and Arlington Street. The 38-year-old Watertown man was arrested for larceny over $250.

July 2, 12:39 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Galen Street ran the registration of a Honda in front of him and found the owner was wanted on a warrant. The car was pulled over the 26-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from Roxbury District Court for driving with a suspended license.

July 3, 5:04 p.m.: Police went to Melendy Avenue for a man who was asleep in the area. when they found the man and awoke him, he became belligerent and began swearing at the officers. Then the man spit in one officer’s face and pushed another officer to the ground. The 21-year-old man from Watertown was arrested for two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

July 3, 6:03 p.m.: A man was spotted taking some speakers and a CD player from Best Buy and tried to leave without paying. When the stopped him, police found he had a warrant. The 33-year-old Boston man was arrested for shoplifting and the warrant from Roxbury District Court for shoplifting.

July 5, 12:55 p.m.: Target security stopped a man who tried to take a dresser from Target without paying. When police searched the man they found he had three stolen credit cards. The 41-year-old Waltham man was arrested for shoplifting and two counts of improper use of a credit card and furnishing a false name.

Incidents

June 29, 12:48 p.m.: A child’s mountain bike was stolen from the front porch of a home on Sidney Street. It was a 24-inch silver Diamondback mountain bike.

June 30, 9:44 a.m.: Someone scratched a vehicle parked in a driveway on Church Hill Street.

June 30, 11:40 a.m.: A car was parked on Patten Street for two weeks and the owner found scratches on the vehicle.

July 4, 7:14 a.m.: A Melendy Street resident reported that a car windshield was broken and food was thrown on the vehicle.
