Four goals by sophomore Molly Driscoll led Watertown in its 6-0 defeat of Dover-Sherborn in Saturday’s MIAA Div. 3 Round of Eight Field Hockey Tournament game. The Raiders added another trophy to its vast collection of awards with Saturday morning’s win at Victory Field. With the MIAA doing away with the sections, the Raiders got a trophy for making the Final Four.

Watertown Salutes Veterans at Annual Breakfast, Veteran’s Agent Encourages Use of VA Benefits

A group of veterans celebrated Veteran’s Day on Thursday at the annual breakfast, where Watertown Veterans Services Officer (VSO) Patrick George encouraged them to take advantage of the benefits they earned by serving their country. The event was held at the Charles Shutt Detachment, which is now home to both the Marine Corps League and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1105. “It’s good to see everyone again in person as we transition back to events where we can actually see each other again,” George said.

Pair Arrested on Drug Charges in Investigation Aided by Residents’ Tips

Two men face drug-related charges following an investigation that started with information provided by residents of the neighborhood. On Nov. 3, the Suburban Middlesex County Drug Task Force arrested two men who they had been investigating for about three months. The task force includes a detective from the Watertown Police Department. Residents of the area reported seeing suspicious activity at the home of 42-year-old Eric Fossitt on Pilgrim Road in Watertown, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor.

Watertown Rolls Over Oakmont in the Round of 16 Field Hockey Tournament Game

Watertown’s round-of-16 State Tournament game against Oakmont was over by the end of the first quarter, as the Raiders beat the Spartans 6-0 at Victory Field on Wednesday afternoon. Two Watertown players collected a pair of goals, and one player scored her first varsity goal in the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament game. Council Pleased with Manager Search Firm Despite Receiving Only One Application

The City Council backed the hiring a firm to help conduct the search for the next City Manager on Tuesday night and Council President Mark Sideris said he received good reviews from other communities that have used the firm. The Council unanimously voted to hire Community Paradigm Associates LLC, the only firm to apply. Councilors also approved the $14,000 bid for the work which includes getting input from the community, Watertown official elected and staff, recruiting candidates, assisting with candidate screening, hosting a community forum, and helping the Council to conduct interviews of finalists. After speaking to references and others familiar with the Community Paradigm Associates , Sideris said he believes they will do a good job in Watertown. “What this firm did is know what communities are looking for and find the candidates that are the best fit,” Sideris said.
