Watertown Runners, High Jumper Compete Against Nation’s Best

Watertown senior Mange Camara sprinted to a second place finish in the Emerging Elite Competition at the 2019 New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Pictured, Camara won the 200 meters at the 2018 MIAA Div. 4 Outdoor Track Meet. Watertown’s Mange Camara closed out his high school track career by showing he can compete with the best high school runners in the nation. Camara, a senior, was joined by several other athletes at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C., this weekend.

Watertown’s Flags Retired With Respect During Flag Day Ceremony

After flying outside for several months atop a flag pole, the American Flag from Watertown’s Town Hall had become worn and was due for retirement. On Friday, it was retired along with a few other Star Spangled Banners during a ceremony at Ridgelawn Cemetery. The event was hosted by Watertown’s veterans groups and Watertown Veterans Service Officer Patrick George as part of the town’s Flag Day observance. “Three weeks ago we celebrated Memorial Day and paid tribute to the people who served their country in the military,” George said.

Repaving Project Continuing This Week on N. Beacon St., Charles River Road

Roads inside and outside of the Arsenal on the Charles will be repaved in early June. Roadwork will soon resume at the intersection of North Beacon Street and Charles River Road near the driveway to the Arsenal on the Charles. Athenahealth and its contractor, Charles Contracting, announced that road paving will take place in the area on Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18 beginning at 9 a.m. (weather permitting). Athena owns the Arsenal on the Charles complex. Residents on that stretch of road are being asked to remove cars from driveways prior to this time “as you will not have access to driveways during this process,” the announcement said.
