Bring your mat, water bottle and curiosity! This class draws upon a wide variety of yoga, qigong, and tai chi practices, as well as meditation and breathwork. These practices help you awaken joyful vitality and enjoy a gentle yet invigorating practice to quiet the mind, open the heart center for emotional clarity, and build physical strength and balance.

Watertown Students Earn Academic Honors at Bridgton Academy

The following information was provided by Bridgton Academy:

Bridgton Academy faculty, administrators, and students began the second semester by celebrating scholarly excellence and dedication among the Class of 2023. The Academy community gathered for an uplifting evening awards ceremony, during which students who attained honors (3.0 – 3.25 GPA), high honors (3.26 – 3.74 GPA), and highest honors (3.75-4.0 GPA) were recognized. Bridgton faculty also had the opportunity to recognize a student in each class whose unwavering commitment to the pursuit of knowledge made a tangible, positive impact in the classroom and among peers. Dean of Academics Jamie Izaryk remarked that this ceremony is one of her favorite events of the year, as it presents an occasion for the Bridgton community to recognize student successes, not just as students, but also as people. Mrs. Izaryk notes, “Most of these students are selected for more than just successful final exams, lab reports, and well-executed written assignments.

Our History: Miles Pratt — Owned Foundry on Main St., Founded Library

This is the latest in the series of articles provided by the Historical Society of Watertown. The story was written for the Historical Society’s April 2003 newsletter “The Town Crier” by former Historical Society of Watertown board member Mary Spiers. Mary was our Recording and Corresponding Secretary. Mary retired from the Board in December 2022 but is still a volunteer. MILES PRATT 1825-1882

Miles Pratt was a Watertown industrialist and philanthropist.

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Watertown Reduced Trash by More than 1,000 Tons in 2022

Happy New Year! 2022 was a big year for waste reduction in Watertown. We implemented newprograms to help achieve the newly ratified Massachusetts 2030 waste goals. This landmarkmasterplan set the objective of municipalities reducing the amount of waste they send for disposal by 30% by 2030.

Mosesian Center Hosting Newton Art Association’s Winter Exhibition

“Rainbow Arch” will be on display at the Mosesian Center of the Arts. The following information was provided by the Mosesian Center for the Arts:

Mosesian Center for the Arts is very excited to welcome Newton Art Association for our winter exhibition. Both organizations, Newton Arts and Mosesian Arts, have partnered in the past and this time member artists of Newton Art Association as well as non-members have submitted work exploring creativity, inclusion, and unity. The work in the upcoming exhibit is inspired by Maya Angelou’s wise words: “All great artists draw from the same resource: the human heart, which tells us that we are more alike than we are unalike.”

Using those words, artists have examined ideas that range from personal heartbreaks and joys to more universal concepts of inclusivity, cooperation, unity, and creativity. In Sharon Whitham’s monotype “Rainbow Arch,” the artist uses stone imagery to represent diversity, strength, balance, and history.

Developers of Residential, Retail Project on Main Street Holding Community Meeting
