Watertown Boys & Girls Club Fund Raising Golf Tournament Honors Founding Member

Golfers who participated in the 2020 Stephen Mugar Memorial Golf Tournament, which benefits the Watertown Boys & Girls Club. The Watertown Boys & Girls Club announced that registration is open for the 44th Annual Stephen P. Mugar Memorial Golf Tournament:

Watertown Boys & Girls Club will host their annual golf tournament on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Oakley Country Club. The tournament honors one of the Club’s original founding members, Stephen Mugar. His children and grandchildren generously perpetuate his legacy by sponsoring this annual event. The Mugar Family will match the tournament’s net profits up to $80,000, thus making this the largest annual fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club, accounting for nearly 30% of the Club’s yearly revenue.

Public Invited to Give Input on Watertown Climate & Energy Plan

The Resilient Watertown Stakeholder Advisory Group Holding sent out the following announcement about its second meeting on the Watertown Climate and Energy Plan Update. The Resilient Watertown Stakeholder Advisory Group (RWSAG) Meeting #2 will be held on Tuesday, July 27th from 6-8pm (remote meeting). 

The meeting will be open for viewing by the public on Watertown Cable Access https://wcatv.org/. The public may email questions and comments to Resilient Watertown: resilient@watertown-ma.gov. 

The focus of this meeting will be for RWSAG members to refine the proposed actions developed by working groups and collected through the first public input survey. Participants will dive deep in breakout group discussions to understand how these actions can become a reality for Watertown. The meeting will be live-streamed for public viewing and recordings of the breakout group discussions will be posted following the meeting.

Small Saves Featured in Instructional Video in This Week’s Cartoon

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Deadline Coming Up for Participants to Apply for First Watertown Arts Market

The first Watertown Arts Market will be held on Aug. 21, and the deadline for participants to join is coming up soon. The Arts Market will be held at Arsenal Park on Saturday, Aug. 21, 12-5 p.m., and the deadline for participants to apply is Saturday, July 31. Wicked Dog Apparel Store Coming to Pop-Up Space at Arsenal Yards

Launched in 2016 and inspired by a love of Boston, good times, and man’s best friend, Wicked Dog has set up shop at Watertown’s Arsenal Yards in the space next to Ben & Jerry’s. The pop-up is open weekly Thursday–Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is selling a variety of apparel for folks of all ages including shirts, pullovers, hats, bags, sneakers, and more.
