The program, with its 20 percent discount off the medium price of residential solar installations in 2018, runs only until Oct 3rd! Family Mental Health Support Group Hosting Meeting

The following information was provided by National Alliance for Mental Illness:

Family Mental Health support group:  NAMI Family Mental Health Support Group is a free, structured, confidential peer-led support group for the families of individuals living with mental illness.  

A support group will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 7:30 – 9 pm at the Newton Wellesley Hospital, at 2014 Washington Street in Newton 02461, on the second floor of the main building in the Bowles Conference Center.  Parking will be validated. This is organized by the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI).

First Game of Legend Basketball League Goes to OT

Teams in the O’Brien-Jeharian Legends League final got underway Thursday with an overtime game. Pictures is action from the semifinals at Saltonstall Park. The Recreation Department provided the following information:

The Johnson Club survived an overtime challenge from the Finnegan Club, winning game one of the O’Brien-Jerahian Legend Finals by the score of 58-46. Danny Kelly led all scorers with 16, while teammate Jeremy Kullman chipped in 15 for the victors. Marcus D’Angelis and Mike Simoni scored 14 and 12 respectively for the runner-up Finnegan Club.

Small Save: Hockey Super Hero

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning, Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Save the Date for the 2019 Watertown Faire on the Square

The organizers of the Faire on the Square provided the following announcement:

On Saturday, September 28, the 21st Annual Faire on the Square will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Saltonstall Park, in Watertown. The committee planning this year’s event is once again led by Dan McCarthy, owner of DM Productions. McCarthy has been involved with the Faire for 21 years. This will be the second year for Cushing Amusements, providing top of the line kids rides. An exiting new addition to this year’s Faire will be the Kowloon Food Truck from the famous Kowloon Restaurant of Saugus.

Find Out Your Blood Pressure at a Free Screening

Every first Friday of the month, the Watertown Mall hosts a free blood pressure screening from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. For this upcoming month, this will happen on September 6, 2019. The screenings are sponsored by the Watertown Health Department. Screenings take place in the back hallway of the mall, near Target & Carter’s. About the Watertown Mall:

The Watertown Mall is wheelchair accessible and accessible by MBTA Bus routes 70 and 70A.
