Revels Hosting Free Online Sea Chantey Concert

Join us Friday, February 19th at 7:30pm ET on Facebook Live when Revels Artist-in-Residence and master chantey man David Coffin leads a rousing chantey sing with special guest, maritime musician, educator, and chantey expert, Celeste Bernardo. Making a cameo appearance will be Revels North Artistic Director Nils Fredland. Through the course of the evening we will explain but mostly SING many different forms of chanteys; capstan/pumping/windlass, halyard, long and short haul chanteys, to name a few.

New Rep Presents Virtual Romeo & Juliet for Schools, Community Groups

Schools and community groups can view a recording of #RomeoJuliet, New Rep and Queen Mab Productions’ interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s classic plays. New Repertory Theatre and Queen Mab Productions present #RomeoJuliet, a raw and relevant 2-person interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic Romeo & Juliet, directed by Benjamin Evett and starring Diana Lobontiu and Sharmarke Yusuf. Considering our shared experiences of 2020, this production examines deeply the play’s themes of isolation, separation, and what sacrifices we make as we attempt to cross boundaries. The performance will be available to view March 15 – June 15, 2021 for school and group organizations only. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

The Historical Society of Watertown is hosting a trivia contest about the Town’s history. The winner will receive a book of pieces about Watertown’s history. The Historical Society sent out the following information:

The Historical Society is having a trivia contest! The winners will receive a copy of the book “Watertown Echoes: A Look Back at Life in a Massachusetts Town” by Sigrid Reddy Watson. Sigrid wrote a Watertown history column for the Watertown Tab/Press from 1997 – 2001.

Watertown Museum Hosting Free Concert to Honor Armenia

The Armenian Museum of America will host a free online concert honoring Armenia. The following announcement came from the Armenian Museum of America:

The Armenian Museum of America recently announced the third in its bi-monthly Online Concert Series. The performance is being recorded live in New York by three Armenian sopranos, Hasmik Meikhanedjian, Alvard Mayilyan, and Anahit Zakaryan. They will be accompanied by pianist and composer Hayk Arsenyan. The concert, “Kez het Hayastan” (With You, Armenia!), is dedicated to Armenia. 

The event will be aired online on Sunday, February 14 at 2:00 pm EST (11:00 am PST and 11:00 pm in Armenia).

Make Your Own Creation and Join in YardArt Watertown

Everyone from artists to people who have never created anything before are invited to make something and display it in their front yard as part of a Town-wide art exhibition. Organizers of the event, dubbed YardArt Watertown, wanted to bring some cheer to Watertown during the gloom of winter, said one of the organizers, Roberta Miller. “We need something this winter that is fun and gets people outside — kind of like porch fest, only it’s art,” Miller said. “Some people have done projects similar to this, decorate your door. So, after a lot of discussion with this small group, the idea emerged that we would do YardArt and we would encourage people to make something fun.
