Comics: Small Saves Faces a New Role, See Why Trouble Got Her Name

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

DeMarco recently added “Here’s Trouble” to his cartooning lineup, inspired by drawings he did in the 1980s when he was in high school

The Faire on the Square is Back! New Additions Include Line Dancing, Mini Golf, Karaoke

Charlie BreitroseChildren will have many fun activities to choose from at the 2021 Faire on the Square. After a year off due to the pandemic, the Watertown Faire on the Square is back in 2021 with some new activities, new performers along with some favorites from previous editions. The Faire takes place Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. at Saltonstall Park (next to Town Hall, 149 Main St., Watertown). There is no cost to attend, but there will be many food vendors, booths and others with items for sale.

Watertown Gallery Hosting Five Multimedia Artists for an Environmental Show

Upsurge, too features five regional multimedia artists. People across the globe produce over 300 million tons of plastic a year. Half of this plastic is used only once and then heads for the world’s oceans.

September is Filled with Music and Fitness Classes at Arsenal Yards

While the past year has made it difficult for many to workout indoors and in gyms, Arsenal Yards is excited to extend its popular Outdoor Fitness Series through the end of September. With outdoor, socially distanced classes ranging from yoga and barre to boot camps and cardio kickboxing, participating studios include Pure Barre Arsenal Yards, Kick it by Eliza, Artemis Yoga, Breathe Studio, Get Lively: Health & Fitness and Ballroom in Boston.

Bluegrass Band with Special Guest Performing at Watertown Concert

Bluegrass band The Sandy Ridge Boys performs in Watertown on Sept. 15. The Watertown Summer Concerts extend into September this year with a bluegrass performance by The Sandy Ridge Boys with special guest Moriah Ozkermen. The concert will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 15 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Saltonstall Park, next to Town Hall, 149 Main St., Watertown.
