Watertown Farmers Market Features New Vendors, Entertainment

The Watertown Farmers Market will have a couple of new vendors this week, and entertainment for shoppers. The Watertown Farmers’ Market is held Wednesdays 2:30-6:30 p.m.(Closing at 6:00 p.m. in October) from June 12-Oct. 9. Saltonstall Park (Corner of Main St. & Whites Ave. next to Town Hall, 149 Main Street).

Small Saves Cartoon: Beach Day

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning, Small Saves emerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

Celebrate Beatrix Potter’s Birthday with Crafts, Songs & Stories

Watertown Mall and Watertown Families Together come together to celebrate the 153 rd birthday of Beatrix Potter, author of the beloved book, Peter Rabbit. This free event will consist of Peter Rabbit themed crafts, songs and stories. The celebration will take place on Thursday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. This event will take place in the back hallway, across from Carter’s. Attendees will have the opportunity to win a copy of Peter Rabbit! We look forward to seeing you there!

First Watertown Family Movie Features “The Lion King”

On Friday, July 19, the Watertown Police and Watertown Recreation Department will host a Family Movie Night, featuring the animated classic “The Lion King.” The free fun begins at 6:30 p.m. behind the Police Station, at 552 Main St., Watertown. The night also features games, face painting, popcorn, music, balloon animals, pizza and refreshments beginning at 6:30 p.m. The movie begins at 8 p.m.

Watertown Elementary students, bring your friends and family for a night of fun and excitement! The second family movie night will be held Friday, Aug. 9.

LOCATION CHANGE: This Week’s Watertown Summer Concert Will be Swinging

The Westwood Swing Band will be performing at this week’s Watertown Summer Concert

The Westwood Swing Band will perform Wednesday evening at the Watertown Summer Concert. Due to the possibility of rain and storms this evening, tonight’s concert will be held inside at the Watertown Free Public Library. The free concert is from 6:30 to 8 p.m in the Watertown Savings Bank Meeting Room inside the Watertown Free Public Library, 123 Main St., Watertown. Vocalist Gail Riley is joined by 15 instrumentalists to create the hard-driving sound of the Big Bands of swing. The Westwood Swing Band will be performing a mix of tunes popularized by such noteworthy artists as Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Peggy Lee, Barbara Streisand, and Stevie Wonder.

Two Nights of Puppet Theater at Watertown’s Plumbing Museum

The Plumbing Museum will be hosting two evenings of puppet theater featuring several performers. The shows features five premier performances with original costumes and music. The scripts were written acted and directed by Massachusetts playwrights and puppeteers. Featured performers are: Rosalita the puppet, Behind The Mask Studio & Theatre, Driscoll Productions, John Minigan, and Patti Cassidy. The shows will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 at The Plumbing Museum 80 Rosedale Road in Watertown.
